[ 202. THE AMAZING RACE FINALE ]

My least favourite team won... chip and kim. haiz. they lied and yielded other teams... but well tts juz part of the game.

and that brandon and nicole kept asking lord for help. its your amazing race, muz believe in yoursleves. chip also asking for jesus for help. perhaps asking to be given some strength? and nicole kept whinning abt she cant finish that detour.

but colin and christie even though they always lose their temper but they are seriously the best competitive team out of these 5 seasons. For they chalked up a total of 6 wins out of 11 races (EP 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) and even has 3 consective wins, with the longest lead of 13 hours. they did most of their tasks better and strategise better than other teams, no doubt. even the last leg during at Dallas, they went thru the maze like a breeze while the supposedly winners chip and kim spent so much time there.

haiz. C&C lost because of a flight delayed and that cost them their 1 million. they were trying to catch up and even called for a cab to bring them all ard dallas cos they noe its hard to get taxi. and they got a very gd driver who took shortcuts but the time gap was juz too much. :(

For your bedtime stories or when u are bored. u can read the following.
why i pasted? cos some of the games they had were quite interesting. :]

These are the places THE AMAZING RACE 5 have set foot on. detourS and roadblockS.

EP 1: Punta Ballena, Urugary

In this Detour, Teams had to choose either "Zips" or "Chips." Teams choosing Zips must make their way to the top of the hotel and pull themselves across a horizontal zip line 210 feet above the ground. Once on the other side, they must take a second zip line 18 stories down to the pool below. While this option was frightening, Teams with guts could finish quickly. Teams opting for Chips must make their way into the hotel casino to play roulette with 20 chips. They would receive their next clue only if they hit their number. While the task wasn't scary, the gamble was. If they didn't get the clue, they still had to complete the Zips option and would have only succeeded in wasting time.

EP 2: Buenos Aires, Argentina

This Detour required Teams to choose between "Perro" or "Tango." Teams choosing Perro, the Spanish word for dog, must take on the extremely popular job of dog walking. One Team member must take charge of eight dogs while the other uses a map to navigate them past a series of checkpoints to their final destination, one mile away at a statue called La Flor. Teams were able to begin the task immediately because the dogs were right outside the cemetery. Teams opting for Tango must travel through crowded streets 1.5 miles across town to a theater and search among similar-looking tango dancers for the man pictured in the program, who would give them their next clue. If Teams found the wrong man, he would take their program, forcing them to get a new program and try again

A Roadblock is a task that only one person may perform. In this Roadblock, that person must play a game called ribbon roping traditionally played by children on a ranch. Participants must enter a corral and attempt to remove a bandana from the neck of one of the calves. Since they were not allowed to tackle the animals, the task could prove frustrating. Once they got the bandana, a gaucho would hand them their next clue.

EP 3: San Carlos De Bariloche, Argentina

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to bite into as many chocolates as necessary to find one with a white center. Of the almost 11,000 chocolates on the table, only 20 had the coveted white center.

In this Detour, Teams had to select between "Smooth Sailing" and "Rough Riding." Each member of Teams choosing Smooth Sailing had to paraglide in tandem with an instructor off the 5,000-foot mountain. While the task would be scary, Teams could finish quickly. Each member of Teams opting for Rough Riding had to ride a bike through a rugged six-mile course down the same mountain. While not a frightening task, biking down the rough terrain could take a long time.

EP 4: Saint Petersberg, Russia

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Block 5 Shots" or "Drink 1 Shot." Teams opting for Block 5 Shots must travel to an ice hockey rink, put on protective gear and step into the goalie's position. Working together, they needed to block 5 slap shots from a team of professional hockey players. Teams choosing Drink 1 Shot had to travel to Anichkov Palace, grab a saber and perform a Cossack ritual: balance a shot glass of vodka on the blade and tilt the sword to drink the shot without dropping the glass.

In this Roadblock one Team member had to eat 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of caviar to receive their next clue.

EP 5: Cairo, Egypt

In this Fast Forward, Teams had to make their way to the Pharaonic Village. Once there, they needed to find a sarcophagus and transport it by ferry to a temple and deliver it to the priest inside to receive the Fast Forward reward.

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to climb down a series of ladders to the base of Osiris Shaft, 140 feet below the surface. Next, they needed to search a watery tomb for a satchel, bring it back to the surface and present it to an Egyptologist, who would give them their next clue

In this Detour, Teams had to choose either "Rock & Roll" or "Hump & Ride." Teams opting for Rock & Roll had to use ancient tools to transport 600 pounds of rock across an area of sand the size of a football field. While physically demanding, the task could be finished quickly if Teams could master the ancient system used to build the Pyramids. Teams choosing Hump & Ride must pick a pair of horses to lead camels laden with carpets along a one-mile path through the desert. Once they delivered the camels and cargo to a carpet merchant, Teams would receive their next clue. While not physically demanding, the speed of the task was determined by the camels, so it could take a long time

EP 6: Luxor, Egypt

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Herd It" and "Haul It." Herd It required Teams to travel five miles by kalesh, a carriage, to Banana Island. They they had to load 10 sheep and goats onto a traditional boat known as a felucca, then sail across to the west bank of the Nile and give the animals to a waiting shepherd in exchange for a clue. Dealing with livestock could be frustrating, but once they were in the boat, Teams should have smooth sailing to complete the task. Teams choosing to Haul It must travel three miles by kalesh to Pigeon House Farm and use a traditional device to haul water from the river into an urn. Once the urn was filled, they must transport it by donkey to a farmhouse and fill a large jug to the marked line. Getting the water from the Nile would be easy, but transporting by donkey could prove difficult, and Teams may also have to make several trips before they complete the task.

This Roadblock required one Team member to choose a large marked dig site in a field of sand and use tools provided for them to unearth a scarab, a stone carving of a beetle, an important symbol in Egyptian mythology. Once they found the scarab, they would receive their next clue

EP 7: Lake Manyara, Tanzania

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Buzzing" and "Busy." Teams choosing Buzzing had to ride a bicycle to a honey farm, put on beekeeper suits and work together to harvest 2 kilograms of honey from traditional African hives. Teams would be covered with hundreds of African bees, but if they overcame their fear, they could finish quickly. Teams opting for Busy must find a furniture store, load two chairs onto a traditional cart and deliver them to a specific address in town. While there was nothing scary about the task, finding the correct address in the rural town could take a long time.

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to open an ostrich egg, cook a portion of it equal to two dozen chicken eggs and eat it all to receive their next clue.

EP 8: Dubai, UAE

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Off Plane" and "Off Road." Teams choosing Off Plane, must travel to the Umm Al Quwain Aeroclub and skydive in tandem with an instructor 10,000 feet above the Margham Red Dunes. Once they land, they receive their next clue. While this option was potentially terrifying, Teams could finish it quickly. However, each plane could hold only one Team, and planes were scheduled to leave 45 minutes apart. Teams opting for Off Road had to travel directly to the Margham Red Dunes, where they must drive a marked 4x4 vehicle over a six-mile course through the desert, ending at the skydive landing zone. While a far less harrowing task, Teams could get stuck in the sand, forcing them to radio for help, which would take a long time.

EP 9: Kolkata, India

In this Fast Forward, Teams had to travel seven miles to a temple and perform a traditional Hindu ritual. What Teams didn't know was that the ritual would require them to shave their heads, an act performed by Hindu men and women at least once in their lives. Once both teammates were completely bald, they could claim the Fast Forward.

In this Roadblock, one Team member must enter the brick factory and use a traditional Indian mold to make 20 mud bricks. The task appeared simple, but if the molds weren't filled in the correct way, the bricks would fall apart. Once the factory owner determined that all 20 bricks were properly formed, he would hand the Team their next clue.

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Heavy but Short" and "Light but Long." Teams choosing Heavy but Short must travel more than 10 miles to Lansdowne, a region of Kolkata, and choose a taxi with no engine to transport half a mile to a garage, where the owner would hand them their next clue. While the task would be physically demanding, Teams were required to push the taxi only a short distance and could finish quickly. Teams opting for Light but Long, must travel to the largest flower market in Kolkata and find a specific stall. The stall's owner would hand them a garland that they must release into the Ganges River for good luck to receive their next clue. While not a physically demanding task, it could take a long time to find the stall in a very crowded marketplace.

EP 10: Rotorua, New Zealand

This Detour offered Teams a choice between "Clean" and "Dirty." Clean required Teams to drive 13 miles to Okere Falls and perform a New Zealand adventure sport called sledging. With the help of two river guides, they must ride down a one-mile whitewater river course with only a small board, called a sledge, for protection. Sledging down the river would be scary, but Teams that braved the rapids could finish quickly. Teams choosing Dirty must drive 10 miles to Hell's Gate and search for clues buried in a large mud pool. There was nothing scary about the task, but searching through the hot mud could take a long time.

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to inflate a zorb, which is a giant plastic ball, get in it, and roll down the hill while bouncing around inside. The zorb had water inside to protect against scraping from the plastic. At the bottom of the hill, like a hamster in a wheel, the participant needed to walk the zorb across the finish line, join their partner, and run to the Pit Stop at the top of the hill.

EP 11: Manila, Phillipines

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to travel by boat to the Auckland Harbor Bridge and climb a 75-foot ladder to the girders beneath the roadway. Once there, balancing over the harbor, they must walk the narrow metal planks to the clue on the other side. After receiving the clue, they would be lowered down to their waiting partner in the boat below.

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Plow" and "Fowl." Teams choosing Plow had to choose a marked farm field and use an ox-drawn plow to till the soil and unearth a buried clue. While labor-intensive, the task involved an animal familiar with hard labor, so Teams could finish quickly. Teams opting for Fowl had to work together to herd 1,000 ducks from one pen to another, 50 yards away. The task was less strenuous, but controlling 1,000 animals that instinctively run away from people could be time-consuming.

In this Roadblock, one Team member had to use a device called an ascender to pull themselves 150 feet up the side of a limestone cliff, Lagen Wall. Upon completing the ascent, they would receive their next clue and rappel 150 feet back down to their partner.

EP 12: Dallas, USA

In this Detour, Teams had to choose between "Slide" and "Ride." Teams choosing Slide must perform a terrifying two-man luge down the Olympic Track at speeds up to 40 miles per hour, needing to complete the course in 34 seconds, the accepted competitive time for amateurs. If they failed, they had to keep trying until they hit the target time. Teams choosing Ride took mountain bikes on a slalom course down the Olympic ski slope in under three minutes. If they failed to finish in the required time, they must keep trying. While not as scary as luge, this task required bike riding skills and speed to finish in three minutes.

[ 201. new looK ]

How u guys find it? i think i love it! lol. i think i fated to get britney back cos the template i got, the picture expired le... so no choice i added britney back. but it still looked cool rite? hee...

[ 200. wat a day ]

yes. u heard it. was supposed to wake up at 5 to do last min reading for maths.
then when i woke up, it was kinda bright... then i looked at the clock, 7am.
i freaked out, jumped out of my bed. took a cab to school. but still late. i reached
on the spot at 730 but assembly started.

well.. i can safely say i failed my maths. again. today's paper was easier than paper 1.
but stats something tt if u cant get the first step correct, the rest will require tt
answer so the whole sum cant do. cant meet my 70 mark... so it juz a F or O grade :[

anyway, my tutor said a lvl more impt. try harder and really use the time to practice.
i can regret now but 48 days later i cant.

for now, i shall take a breather and work on my blog. :)

[ 199. excited ]

there are 3 things to be excited...
1: tml my last paper!
2: tml amazing race finale
3: tml volleyball training!

today chem paper 1 and 2 were ok. sure can pass but whether gd grades haf to see...
mcqs make some silly mistakes... discovered a way to time myself... and it was quite
useful today as i managed to finish the whole paper. even when they asked pens down,
mine was already down unlike other papers... lol. :X

method is like dat:
today chem paper 2 was 90 mins. so first i deduct 10 mins for checking and stuff
so i left with 80 mins. total marks for the paper 60. so i divide 80 by 60. then for
each section before i start the qn, i wrote down the time i started.

then i see the question total mark, multiply by the division i did. which is abt 1.3
min per mark. then i noe when i shld end and move on.

:]

[ 198. muz hear! ]

lol this song is a must-hear... very nice... by Cosima de Vito
was a Australian idol finalist.. but she got some throat infection tt if she
continues singing she will lose her voice... so she had to drop out of the competition.
if she continued, i think can beat Guy Sebestian. lol.
if u cant find the song, i can send u... lol :]

When The War Is Over

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away (x2)

When the war is over
Got to get away
Pack my bags to
No place in no time no day
You and I, we used
Each other's shoulder
Still so young
But somehow so much older
How can I go home
And not get blown away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away (x2)

When the war is over
Got to start again
Try to hold a trace of
What it was back then
All around is chaos and madness
Can't help feeling
Nothing more than sadness
Only choice to face it
The best I can

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away(x2)

You and I, we shared
Each other's stories
Just a page that's
Lost in all its glory
How can I go home
And not get blown away

Ain't nobody gonna steal this heart away(x3)

[ 197. enD oF biO preliM ]

damn. when i published my blog, error came out. now haf to re tell my story.
as i was saying... caught emmy this morning... emmy awards la. lol. friends didnt
get nominated for best comedy :( its 2 nominated for best actor and actress in comedy
also didnt win :[

today bio paper shld be a breeze... 3 structured questions (3 x 15m) and an essay (20m)
in 1.5 hrs. especially 2 questions were Nov 97 and Nov 98 questions which i have practiced.
then one part of the 10m essay question on role of hypothalamus and pituitary
gland on the human growth and development
which i was very prepared for.

these questions caught my attention. i think i was too caught up with writing the
essay tt it took up much of the time. in the end i didnt haf enuff time to finish
the papers. AGAIN... :( then i was alternating between the sections cos i scared
i forgot the answers to the structured questions. scribbed some stuff for parts
of question 2 (6m leh) and last part of essay (5m sia). there goes my B for prelim.
never smell B for a long time... lol.

anyway now practising maths for wed. tml chem quite prepared cos i covered it on sat.
love chem as a test subject. no nid to memorise... mostly apply and no essays! hump.

i miss volleyball... 2 weeks of no exercise.

[ 196. wat a library ]

oh forgot to bitch abt this. before my chem prac today, i went to the library yesterday
to try flipping thru other sch papers and see wat type of practical questions they
can ask. then in the end, the librarian told me the school dun haf other school papers!!!
omg... so equipped for a school library. only got anderson paper...

haiz i missed hwa chong library. so much references and exams papers from college-based
to other schools to A level papers to international papers... all the way dated till
even before i was born!

but cannot complain also la. hc got so much money... but collecting papers frm other
school nid $ meh? :(

so disappointed...

oh ya. hc having their annual MAF : mid autumn festival. cool. shld be going to
relive the memories :]

heard frm my friend hc bio and chem papers killer... like i told them when are they
not... and everytime sure have moderation... cant wait to see their papers
[ 195. close shave ]

today chem prac started disastrously. firstly nid to burette out certain volume of
chemical and dilute to 250ml. then when i started diluting, i overshot the marking.
arghz. had to redo. wasted quite sometime.

then second part where we have to do expt on thermochemistry. i didnt read the
instructions closely. supposed to put the acid into the plastic cup then pour in the
powder... i went to put the powder in first. cannot re-do cos all the weighing
measurement regarding the powder had already been taken. so instead of adding powder
to acid in the plastic cup, i had to add acid to powder. wah, the reaction so
exothermic, then it let off steam and almost overflow... then i was too shocked
to look out for the highest temp. it fell very fast. so i no choice had to estimate
the highest temperature reached.

but luckily the titration and QA results were same as my friends...
then got this crazy teacher... we were discussing and comparing our results.
then quite a few of us got the same answers... then we were quite relieved and
excited. then he suddenly walked past us and say 'how u noe u are correct?' we were
like 'not your business anyway' we are happy we get the same answers.firstly unlikely
so many get the same answers and get it wrong... secondly, even if we are wrong,
at least we know we will all get wrong.

well end of practicals for me... phew. now left the 3 scary papers...
bio paper 3: not very familiar compared to the core topics.
maths paper 2: what to say?
chem paper 1 and 2: haf most confidence over the other 2. hope can do really well and
get an A if not at least a B.

[ 194. meaningful ]

my friend sent me this... very meaningful. so share with you guys.

oh yeah, sly the cat got thru the wildcard! mediacorp so inconsistent one.
suddenly they want 1 more thru the finals to make it top 12.
[ 193. ray of hope ]

today bio prac :] thot 2.5 hrs not enough time... in the end a lot finished 30 mins
earlier... then play with the genetics model... which i dun quite understand wat they
asking... tml last prac... then weekend mug like crazy... bio option: plants and
human sexual reproduction... -_- and all the hormones... chem paper 1 and 2... and
last paper maths then go unwind and ready for results :(

oh ya. reminds me of getting my crappy testimonial soon... haiz. my tutor told me
he got nothing to write abt me... maybe except poor results and attendence?

oh well did a survey: -

Green Fawn person tends to have mild disposition, and keeps a low profile.
However, you tend to be high spirited as well.
You dislike hurting others and getting hurt your self.
You are very open hearted person, and is honest and truthful.
You will return the money that you borrowed.
You respect order and can not stand outrageousness.
You are a straight forward person, and even if you have a quarrel, you will not
bear a grudge against the other person.
You tend to possess flexibility, and therefore you can adapt to new environment
rather quickly.
You give an impression of being gentle and easy going.
But on the other hand, You walk fast and do not like being slow and clumsy.
You can handle business logically and quickly.
You have a spirit of good service, and therefore can not turn down favors.

are, so damages will not be inflicted.
Although you don't have wide contacts, you will be trusted by those who know you,
and just naturally may become a leader in a group.
Placing yourself in a safe and stable environment is important to you.
Your strength is being able to cope situations from such environment.
You are suited to take after your family business or becoming the top of small
businesses.

well... kinda fitting but like too many gd things le... well u guys tell me. :]

[ 192. adrenaline pump ]

had an adrenaline pump while watching amazing race... so exciting...
oct starting a new race but got exams... but i think i still watch. 1hr of leisure
shld be ok.

after prelims i am going to change my template... juz many find my template sucks.
because got britney there... lol.

well, that's 8 days away.
[ 191. thunderstorm ]

well the weather today juz reflected my results. dark. especially my maths paper.
bleak's the word. kinda expected but it still bothers me till now. early in the
morning, i saw my very nice maths teacher... she always gives me lots of encouragement
and always pushes me to excel. when she asked 'are u prepared?' my only wish was to
keep that smile on her when she sees my paper. but now, i can only wait for paper 2.
if not the A level. I feel terrible having to know that i let my teacher down. well
not juz maths...

today's maths was tough. heard frm my other friends that the standard is higher.
well if i can get 30 out of 100, i would be happy. i left a 12m and 10m question blank.
my maths was so terrible that i couldnt even start. :( that bumped me out.
i could only do a few sums entirely... and not even sure whether i got them correct.
i think i spent too much time on other subjects... since sec 3, i always got
phobia for A maths... now in JC the fear intensifies... i always freak out
during exams and my vision will blur, hands will tremble. cold sweat. worst case
scenario like today had to leave such obvious blanks on my answer script.

well lucky still have paper 2 to work on. i need more than 70 marks to get a pass overall.
difficult feat. but at least i am more confident in.

but all was not lost. lucky chem paper was quite ok. what i studied came out. juz that
i didnt memorise hard enough... made a few careless mistakes, its the only paper tt
i am happy wif... gd time management. i managed to finish everything within the
2 hr 45 mins. mentally drained... especially after the hit i got from maths...
nvr eat also.. no appetite. bz memorising impt stuff for chem.

i hate morning papers. have to wake up so early. i rather wake up later. have a nice
lunch then head to sch for afternoon papers.

tml bio practical... and i am bad at histology... cant draw :(
hope got enough time, normal bio prac not enough time to finish... and i am in
the morning shift :( haf to quarantined till 12pm. sianz.

i'm left with:
bio prac
chem prac
bio paper 3
maths paper
chem paper 1 and 2.

[ 190. signS ]

cold feet
sweaty palms
breathing heavily
temple throbbing
head spinning
vision blurred

with these signs, what are my chances for maths tml? :[
[ 189. garbage bin ]

lol. i feel like a garbage bin. not because i am full of trash. tt is wat i have eaten
within 2 hrs after my dinner while i am studying...

half a litre mango milk
3 mooncakes
2 dumplings
2 brownies
2 wedges of papaya
2 kiwi fruits
1 can of campbell soup

lol. i didnt haf buffet. kept walking to the kitchen...
worried for my maths... got the feeling i'm going to let my teacher down again :(

Monday, September 13, 2004

[ 188. friendZ ]

gosh... today's last episode so sad and touching... cried... :(
well lucky they came up with vcds, and i'll be watching cos they will also be
the ones who drive my monday blues :]

[ 187. 140 marks ok and done with ]

oh well... bio paper today wasnt that difficult. but y i hai? cos not enough time to
finish... i was kinda mentally drained after the paper 1 MCQs. read very question
carefully... made full use of the 75 mins. then when paper 2 i was quite loss...
even though for the first time i can get to choose which 2 out of 5 essays to do.
i was at the crossroads. cos every topic i studied came out for essay part. and not
all the topics i studied 'fully' so i spent quite some time choosing the ones i think
i can score more marks.

seriously two 3-parts essays of 40 marks took a lot of time to write. still muz
brainstorm... still have 6 structured questions too... when the teacher told us fifteen
mins left, most were quite shocked... firstly, there was a sudden outburst of voice
and it was so loud. then for me, i had a greater shock... i was still
at question 3 of the structured part... and i left out two parts of my essays cos
i wanted to come back and brainstorm for more. made a quick count i had to salvage
40 marks in 15 mins... my hand trembled like crazy... lucky those wif heavier weightage
needed to quote data so not much of understanding... i saw the pattern and wrote the
relationship put in some figures and moved on. 4m question i gave 3 points cos
i really need the time to try attempt other questions. the situation doesnt allow
me to even do the questions that required thinking. those 'suggest' questions i
skipped. left quite a few blanks... *ouch* lucky its 1m or 2m but chalked up can
make a grade le :( i can say it was the first bio paper that i am confident in
cos the concept questions were ez to answer and of high weightage... but didnt
have enough time to actually read, understand and score better... haiz.

first was GP, now bio... i think i nid to tone down tt level of caution tt is slowing
me down... well i still have bio option topic and practical... 115 marks to gain!
hopefully i wont freak out on my maths paper which i normally did. chemistry have
to answer 10 essays in 2 hr 45 mins. *worried*

[ 186. nervous ]

ok.. time to leave my hse to take my first longest paper of 3.5 hrs.
my head feels heavy...

Sunday, September 12, 2004

[ 185. relieved ]

looked at my exam timetable today... and realised after bio i haf one day more
to study for maths... heng.. i thot tue was maths. not very prepared for bio though...
concentrate on chemistry too much le... lets see how's the afternoon paper tml :]
[184. food chemistry ]

feeling bored so i flipped through the list of learning outcomes for food chem
cos they seemed a lot... dunno why we have to study so much when the option topic is
only 20 marks out of the 250 marks of the entire chemistry papers. somemore its
paper 3. 2 questions of 10 marks... -_- feel so cheated... hopefully simple questions
like how milk why curdles and sours... 4 marks easy easy. its like home econs...taking
bio helps in food chem. heng.
finally can start on maths. and my first paper is bio... this is bad...

[ 182. now spinninG: Kelly Clarkson - Breakaway ]

Very nice soothing song... its theme song for Princess Diaries 2

Grew up in a small town
And when the rain would fall down
I'd just stare out my window
Dreaming of what could be
And if I'd end up happy
I would pray

Trying hard to reach out
But when I tried to speak out
Felt like no one could hear me
Wanted to belong here
But something felt so wrong here
So I'd pray
I could break away

Chorus:
I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky.
Make a wish, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget all the ones that I love.
I'll take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away

na na na la la na na na la la
Wanna feel the warm breeze
Sleep under a palm tree
Feel the rush of the ocean
Get onboard a fast train
Travel on a jetplane
Far away
And break away

Chorus

Buildings with a hundred floors
Swinging with revolving doors
Maybe I don't know where they'll take me but
Gotta keep movin on movin on
Fly away
Break away

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly.
Though it’s not easy to tell you goodbye
I GOTTA Take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away.
Out of the darkness and into the sun.
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk, take a chance,
Make a change, and break away
Breakaway
Break away
[ 181. cruelty ]

juz watched the videos of nicholas berg, kim song il being beheaded. damn gross
and why are they freaking inhumane? behead a korean guy juz because they wanted
south korean troops to redraw from their country? they definitely took more than guts
to actually behead a person... hearing all the pleadings and crying for help.
they sounded so helpless... and y did they even have to mask themselves? wats worst,
41 secs of torture... watching the blood gush out... eeks. and somemore they
actually YANKED the head... cos they are using such a blunt knife. *puke* if they
wanted to kill juz kill, y do such a cruel thing. they shld get beheaded for a change.
then i saw a few pics with the nepalese pple who got beheaded as well... this time
they did not haf great skills. i could even see the spinal cord... black in colour.

[ 176. survey ]

Wackiness: 38/100
Rationality: 60/100
Constructiveness: 56/100
Leadership: 64/100

You are a SRCL--Sober Rational Constructive Leader. This makes you a Ayn Rand ideal.

Taggart? Roark? Galt? You are all of these. You were born to lead. You may not be
particularly exciting, but you have a strange charisma--born of intellect and
personal drive--that people begin to notice when they have been around you a while.
You don't like to compromise, but you recognize when you have to.

You care absolutely nothing what other people think, and this somehow attracts
people to you. Treat them well, use them wisely, and ascend to your rightful rank.

Of the 16423 people who have taken this quiz since tracking began (8/17/2004), 5.5 %
are this type.
[175.deadbeat]

oh today raining, no sentosa. :( no tan, i am 'fading' again.
but indoor vball training was wah. tiring.. first time play matches with the pros.
format so different from beach volleyball... i was super confused with the
positions at first... and i love to receive so blocking aint my cup of tea.
though i got the height... the fixed postition format was rather confusing... had
trouble getting used to... hopefully this wed, i can play better... confidence ro
jump spike still low :( i nid more sentosa trainings...

well study for so long. sun exercise and relax a bit made me ready to mug tml :]
KO le. limbs giving way... oh ya tml meeting my ma'am.. one of the zai instructors
who made sengkang red cross youth so successful, producing such a great pioneer
batch. lol. ya la hao lian cannot har? lol.

then got one of my university friend to coach me in chem. yeah. save some time
to mug for everything...

have you done something that made you happy today?

today GP papers didnt go very smoothly... seemed kinda tough to others as well.
there was this guy who was sitting beside me. he slept for both papers even before
the time was up. but obviously i think he gave up. no way u can finish 30 mins
before the paper... most of us didnt haf time to finish... After the scare that our
gp tutor gave... easy topic may not be easy after all if you do close question
analysis... well here's are the questions:

1. In today's world, to be big is to be powerful. Discuss

2. The study of History is pointless because people never learn from mistakes. Comment.

3. Singapore is working towards being a more open society. Discuss the implications.
i did the above question

4. "Improving on Nature" - In view of today's scientific advancements, should this be embraced?

5. Artistic expression should never be restricted. Discuss.

6. Do you agree that a good leader always makes decisions by consensus?

7. Mathematics has limited use. Comment wat a topic!

8. Singaporeans have always been driven by a need to be the best. Has this been a good thing?

9. Is it a waste of money for Singapore to invest in sports?

10. Singlehood is becoming increasingly attractive today. Comment.

11. There is no altruism in the modern world, only vested interests. How far is this true?

12. Man is growing increasingly lonely in the age of telecommunications. Discuss.

Oh was rather pissed with my classmate when the first thing he saw me he said,
"hey u came to school." i was like duh. prelim wat. he said 'oh, i thot u can get a
letter to excuse yourself'

then he went ard to those who are still reading their notes, 'aiya no nid to study
le la' a few frenz n i were rolling our eyeballs.

environmental issues didnt came out. lucky i didnt memorise the case studies...
globalisation also didnt come out at least not directly...
mass media also didnt.. but came out for comprehension which is a killer.

brain power time... read this and try to figure out...

... Media language has been manipulated so that positive concepts now mean the

opposite. 'Deregulation', which was meant to lower prices and help small businesses,

has now become power granted to interntaional banks and a local coporate elite.

lol this one understandable...

This reversal of meaning has an incessant message: the state has adopted a pro-

business agenda; although political parties compete with one another, they are

essentially united in that belief. However, journalists, commentators, conservatives

or liberals alike work hard to promote a show of differences between essentially
like-

minded politicians, thus obfuscating the truth. The real divisions are to be found

outside government and they have never been greater. They reflect the unprecedented

disparity between the poverty of the majority of humanity and the power and privilege

of a corporate and political minority whose goal is to control the world's resources.

Why is it so alarming that journalists, commentators, conservatives or liberals
alike work hard to show the differences between essentially like-minded politicians?

i had to read quite a few times to understand wat they trying to say...

AQ question asked what Singapore needs to do to maintain media objectivity.
i think i might have wrote out of point... kept writing wat singapore has done.
cos the only thing i can think of is to loosen up the censorship. only 10 mins to
do AQ... haiz...
[172.excited]

lol i am not excited because i am going to take my GP paper in 7 hours time.
i got hold of a picture of my pd tutor donating blood. lol. felt tempted to
post online so u guys noe who i am talking abt. but due to recent scandals,
i am not going to give that person/people the pleasure to badmouth me again. and
to respect my tutor, i shouldnt publish his pic w/o his permission.

oh ya today my sis and my friend, xuanZ s' birthday... happy birthday to you (all)
i mean 3rd Sept.

and i made new friends over msn today so cool. keep toking... and forgot i got GP
tml. haha. hopefully i can remember wat my pd tutor taught.

also my malayu teacher taught me very cool phrases today.

slang: apa la = wad la you

saya suka hari ahad kerana saya dapat main bola tampar =
i like sundays because i get to play volleyball

saya tak suka sabtu kerana saya ada ujian =
i dont like saturdays because i have tests

lawa = good looking

[172.vexed]

oh today not feeling too good. rather vexed abt something and my mum's not helping.
hump. somemore tml having GP prelim papers and i have no mood now. haiz.

anyway heard from the news, some american idol 3 finalists are coming to Singapore
for a concert! feel like buying their concert tickets... mmm... but its in oct.

oh ya thanks for doing the quiz. all those who did. appreciated ur time n effort.
nothing to blog nowadays cos i juz spent the day mugging away.
cant wait for sunday to come. :]
[171]

did one quiz that my friend recommended... here are the results:

eXpressive: 4/10
Practical: 7/10
Physical: 5/10
Giver: 7/10

You are a RPYG--Reserved Practical Physical Giver. This makes you a 1950s Parent.

You are relentlessly patient, loving, generous and devoted. You are unflappable.
If on some rare occasion you do raise your voice or say a swear word in anger, anyone
around to hear it will remember it (and think it was funny). At the same time,
you're very cute and charming, and even if you don't catch someone's eye at the
beginning of the night you'll surely have their attention by the end.

Your calm, conservative nature conceals a passionate (and sexy!) heart.

You can have trouble bringing up problems, but your approach to conflict is calm and
even-handed. The problem can be is that you are so busy worrying about your
partner's satisfaction that you don't ensure your own. This can build up over time
and make you restless. Despite your sexual nature, you are more likely to cheat
emotionally than physically.

You tend to work out your frustrations in the bedroom. Depending on your partner,
this can be an excellent strategy. You would be a great candidate to balance out an
XSYT, but not a good match for an unappreciative RPYT.

You have an odd, ritualized vice that doesn't suit the rest of your persona -- like
smoking a certain brand of cigarettes or drinking a certain kind of wine.

Of the 43865 people who have taken this quiz, 5.1 % are this type.
[170]

feel free to go do my quiz. very ez and fun!

learnt quite a few words...

dahulu, dulu(singlish-Malay) = first

learn = belajar = blaja (singlish-Malay)

nama saya john

My fave sentence: saya suka main bola tampar (Any guess? Winner gets a drink)

budak nakal = naughty boy

dah pukul satu ni = i am one now

selamat malam = goodnight

selamat pagi = good morning
[realised its 1am already... good morning every1]

aku hendak (nak) pergi tido dulu = i want to go sleep first.

jangan lupa tag = dont forget to tag

my malay tutor last parting words:
[turns to face camera]
and that concludes our lesson for today.pls finish up pages 2 and 3 of your Bahasa
Melayu For John Sir textbooks.Class dismissed.

30.08.04, Monday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

Another scenario again...

'I heard from some1 that you wrote things abt me' a teacher(preferred not to be named)
said to me.

i was stunned. then replied 'u mean in my blog?'

the teacher nodded.
-----------------------

If you were me, whats your first reaction?
lol, for me it was 'what the fuck? who's tt person?'
but at the same time i was very grateful that my teacher came up and spoke to me.
At least i noe there is one bastard/bitch in sch who found his/her life too lame
and boring to even do such a childish act 'hey john wrote abt u in his blog'

sorry for the language but juz couldnt help it.

i know i am responsible for what i posted... and since i chose to post it online
where everyone can have access to it. but its ur own responsibility and maturity
to read what you like and keep to yourself. By telling the teacher what benefits have
you got? oh be the teacher's pet?

there are a few ways i think it could have leaked out.

firstly, my dear friends who read my blog using sch computers... so pple accessed
my page when the url is saved at the address bar.

secondly, by links from my friends' blogs.

thirdly, people who visit my blog and are my friends. if u happen to be in this
category, u are going to be sorry...

lastly, why would any1 miss out on teachers? there are teachers who read students'
blogs, and same thing links...

well, whoever you are, probably still reading to see any more teachers and probably
find chance to tell me off... haha. damn u are so childish :] i am here to bitch abt
my life, and i wont stop juz because i was 'caught'. i would only be more careful.
i cant possibly be only talking 'wah life is so gd... i love sch so much. teachers
are great. even though i am scolded, i am still happy.' and shant talk abt
teachers or friends, if not later kena backstab again.. i only got myself to blame.

so friends out there... dun talk bad about teachers or friends... u nvr noe who
may backstab u... whats worse, some1 who told u off may even be ur friend or ya
classmates... lucky for me, my teacher told me.

wat a close shave. once bitten twice shy.
words of advice to that big mouth: try getting a blog yaself or better get a LIFE!

Sunday, August 29, 2004

today woke up late. everyday i nid 6 hrs of sleep and really i woke up at 10am
after i slept at 4 yesterday. rushed down to sentosa to meet my dear division. lol
crystal from PHS NCC (Sea) brought her tents and loudhailer. omg then she
started shouting for my name when i stepped into siloso beach. damn malu.

then she started singing using the loudhailer.. and doing every division cheer (in a
mockery manner) got so much attention from the beach go-ers. played a few matches of
vball wif my friends (not the cadets) and won 2 sets in a row. hee... i can now
dig and set le. yeah. :]

anyway i walked down the stretch of beach 3 times to find the cadets... and my bag
and slippers with them :( my spine started to hurt. then in the end, they were
at palawan beach.

but the bus ride to the departure area was fun la. kept laughing.. cos they make
so much noise and i feel younger being together wif them. haha.

oh been getting edgy these days... firstly dunno why pple get so competitive...
mmm... juz the vibes i get from them... not their business they also want to 'charp'.
maybe i already have a competitive nature so a little bit i also can sense and
sadly, magnify. also, i dun like pple to remind me of rules and blah blah...
today at the beach also, kept reminding me u muz do it this way... sianz. they think
i dunno how to follow the norms. hump. oh ya. got pissed off quite some time back
wif hypocrites... 'oh, i will be bz so wont post so much' in the end everyday post.
ooo... 'i am studying harder than u.' ha. who cares.

lol it hurts even though there is no name mentioned... but guess wat, everyone
will noe who u talking abt.

29.08.04, Sunday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

sad... women's volleyball finals juz ended...
cant believe i shed a tear for the Russian team and for my fave player, Gamova.
Yup, u've guessed it, the russian lost... it was the battle of the powerhouse.
china was ranked world no1 in vball... pretty surprised. brazil was gd cos their
blocks were superb by quite a few tall players... china though disadvantaged make
it up by having very good digs( catching spikes shot)

the match was better than russia vs brazil...overall it stretched to abt 2 hrs.
longest game i ever watched and considered the best in the olympics history as commented.

first set. after russia and china each have 3 set point and wasted them, russia came
frm behind and took the set after a very long time. 30-28

second set was also very close with russia edging at 27-25 after wasted 2 set points

third set china fought back to win 25-20

russia tried to keep up but they faced gd blocks and digs so have to give
up the impt set to China at 23-25

last deciding set... Of course China took it 15-12

Tears started flowing frm the russian side. so near yet so far. reminds me of
jiawei who also needed juz 1 more set. realised that Gamova isnt a really gd digger.
probably she's too tall so i think china took advantage and russia lost a few points
when she's the rear player. sobs...

nvr see gamova cry so terribly... at sydney she also won silver. next yr she joined
she would be 27 same as jiawei. but a few of the current russian members would have
passed 30. :(

Americans also got an upset when they lost their pet event 4 x 100m... so the women
and the men teams went down. and china got a few surprising gold in kayaking and
track. i guess they will be tied soon again in the medal tally. China won gold and
bronze in diving :] plus vball again...

27.08.04, Friday ~ Hyped factor: 6/10

Gd day... cos get to study...
caught women's volleyball semi finals... with my fave team russia and GAMOVA!
after i watched the first two sets i got disheartened... brazil won the first 2 sets.
their blocks damn good. and their spikes were great.

but russia didnt give up. they fought back, really hard. then won the next 2 sets.
then the last set was the most exciting... point for point. in the end i switched
to channel news asia during the break and spoiler!!!

saw this few words moving across the bottom of the screen:
'China upsets Cuba in her 12-year reign in the olympics volleyball, to meet russia in
the finals'

no nid to watch le. lol. the match wasnt live so when i switched back, i heaved a
sigh of relief...

Brazil VS Russia (won)
25:18
25:21
22:25
26:28
14:16

thats the most exciting event of the day. cos the rest of my time was wif books :(

Singapore idol was cool... wif the local touch. results quite expectable but
i hope there's a wildcard round... cos benjamin eio is pretty gd... juz wrong
song...

david, jeassea, olinda... nice songs...

cant wait for next week.. will be rooting for chris and daphne...

hee... the rat has come out to play... so happy...

26.08.04, Thursday ~ Hyped factor: 5/10

gosh... so happy for diana. didnt know she got a bf le. lol. wah this time a much
better one. :X and realised that we both have 85 friends in common in frenster. tts
a lot. missed her so much... building the sk unit was the most memorable one. missed
those days when we worked as a dynamic duo. pushed each other on, fulfilling the
wildest dreams. laugh like there's no tml. from red cross move to dance. trained
together, performed and choreographed together. think i got affected by her late
coming. lol. but overall she has this funky personality and bubly character tt u
nvr feel bored with her ard. she will be the person there to laugh at ur jokes even
though they aint funny. muz catch up wif her soon.

the other person who made a difference in my life during sec sch years was pei huan.
we were very close and i really hated some guys who called her ugly and fat which she's
not! she worked hard for what she wanted and she got her own principles. strong headed
and determined girl. still remember we both attended our first red cross course,
hospital nursing service. I was so lucky to have her as my partner while we had
our 6 mths attachments to changi general hospital. i really missed those days where
we spurred each other on, we were daring enough to tag and learn from the doctors,
do more than wat we are supposed to do (under the nurses' permission) she learnt from
me how to handle male patients cos mine is an all-male ward while i learnt a lot from
her at her medical ward an all-female ward. mine was interesting because i had a
surgical ward so u can see injuries that were 'fresh' while her ward had older
patients on life saving machines...

i was really happy cos we made full use of our attachment to explore the hospital.
we were actually attached to the ward but we requested to help out in diff areas.
so we practically went to every dept of the hospital.

we often played badminton and study together. i can talk to her freely abt anything.
we do quarrel and its quite often. but strange thing was the more we quarrel
the better we get cos we know how to handle each other's emotions even better.

well, there are definitely more friends coming along the way.

P.S: Singapore idol today. hee.. only one hr to vote.
Oh ya, yesterday i was told that one of my friend's mum passed away due to cancer.
hope he's alright and gd luck for his prelims and As...

25.08.04, Wednesday ~ Hyped factor: 5/10

Was chatting with kenneth and reminded me of my first three mths... haiz
i still remember i love sch so much that i fell ill after my swimmming PE lesson,
i still dun wan to go home... then i was very touched when my classmates walked me
out and hailed a cab for me. was pretty serious cos i collapsed at my doorstep when
i reached home...

then at night, a few called me to ask if i was ok. and assured me that they will
help me collect my work and ask me not to worry...

i love my class for many reasons... many of which i couldnt find in ajc.

firstly, i was very much motivated to study even though there were so many 6 pointers
in my class. Everyday i would go to the library and do my work, still rem my buddies
calling me a mugger. lol. but it comes wif sense of achievement when ur results are
gd if not better than the class. still rem my first chem test, i was so dishearten
and disillusioned by my fave sub cos i flunked my test and quite a few of my class
got full marks. then i pushed myself and use other forms of study method, then
my phy test score was third in class. was so happy. then came bio test, i failed by
half mark. i was still very happy, why? cos the highest score was a just pass.

btw i didnt study alone unlike wat i am doing in sch now... i still rem in hc,
every class has a class bench and during breaks, our class would gather at the
bench and thrash our questions and doubts abt the lecture. then those smarter ones
will explain. if not, we will do research as groups and my class shared the materials
they found by zapping for everyone. well, that is not all.

before tests, some of us will sit down and revise, and i being the weaker one always
seek their help and they were very patient wif me. explaining steps and even shared
their own notes which they done up. even now i am in a diff jc, a few of my friends
would still email me the notes they did. haiz, i feel so bad got nothing to return
them.

i was in this cca (chn drama production) which has abt 100 members. everyday our cca
was frm 5-7. then a few of my classmates will study and wait for us, then we will
go for dinner at coronation plaza(gosh, i missed tt place). Never forget i always
take the first bus and almost the last bus home...

shall briefly talk abt the tutors cos every1 was so gd in wat they teach. my chem tutor
came in only 1 yr, and her classes she taught all As, 1 B. u cant say the students
are already smart cos tutors haf a major part to play if not why tutorials take
up most of our timetable. bio tutor even better, make sure we can explain the concepts
to the whole class, so i didnt haf prob in bio. maths very challenging cos my class
so gd in maths, phy lol experiment so many interesting ways to make us part of physics.
GP was scary... cos the tutor brought in lots of issues tt i dunno. in bombardstic
eng somemore. she has this literature style of teaching so very interesting.

the sch also gd at 'blowing up' events. CNY we had to set up stalls to compete sales.
a few frenz stayed over and we took shifts to cook. chatted the whole nite.
we had a very dirty minded theme shant say here. but well sex sells. so our sales
were top.

first time i reserved one day for visiting my frenz during new yr. went house after
house. and fyi, my class only got 3 pple living in hdb flats. lol. jaw dropped a few
times after viewing the houses. oh ya, this yr my friend invited me to her bdae
party, and another friend to his liquor party. lol. they are hip and cool, definitely
not those who ask u to smoke. drink erm... not too bad i guess... parents were there
so ya.

haiz... i missed the sch and my class... would get to laugh every tutorial class.
tts why they were able to make me cry when i got my O lvl results. even though with
8As, i was crying as bad as though who didnt pass. my principal had to comfort me.
ya, frenz called me crazy but 2 mths of such close bonding. i couldnt help.

then i cried again during the first day of orientation when i was posted to tj. cos
my friends from hc called and asked me how am i. with every sms i get i was building
up on my emotions. at the end of the day, i couldnt take it and my friends were
on the phone comforting me. haiz. but then at least now i get to meet them at their
own functions and sch events and happy that they didnt forget me and rem to invite me.

even get to know the juniors during the Seniors-treat-Juniors and Juniors-treat-Seniors
sessions. had dinner, stayed over, played mahjong, danced, poker, movies, karaoke.
now in AJC, juniors? lol who are they? sch ends at 1.45, i would be at the gate latest
at 2pm.

fyi, i didnt shut myself from the class. cos most head home too :]

gosh. juz had a traumatic experience. sent my dad to the hospital...

lucky i haven sleep again. my dad fainted in the toilet. lucky i put pillow against
the wall, wah later hit his head, its gonna get worse. then called the ambulance 1777
at ard 2am. was kinda pissed when the operator kept reminding me u haf to pay 80
bucks. i mean u tell me once can le, makes it seem like no $ no ambulance.
then ask me which hospital i want to go. i was like its my dad, not me.

then when he called back again, he was like 'remember u nid to pay 80 bucks in cash'
wah. -_-.

then they took ages to come... when they reached was like 230? and wat was maddening
was the paramedics pushed the stretcher like they going supermarket. now i know why
sense of urgency is so impt as in the practical use.

so glad i could use my red cross stuff... feels gd to help the paramedics. while the
two attended to my dad, i help to convert the stretcher in the sitting position and
lower to ground lvl. hee.. the evac gold accred helped. i think my dad kinda heavy...
so i helped to load up my dad with the human stretcher method...hee... not tt i
enjoyed but being red cross helped!!! i wanted to follow to the hospital but my
mum insisted me to rest. hope everything's fine.

wat an eventful day. i better sleep now before i fall ill.
scary. lucky i haven sleep. my dad got sick in the middle of the night. breathing
breathlessly, then next moment vomit. quite serious. dunno whether it is food
poisoning... mmm... well got some cleaning up to do. hee... vomitus nothing
compared to cockroach. lol. my attachment at hospital served me well now. haiz who
dare to say a nurse's job is dirty shld be hammered... in times like dat, you ask
doctors to clean up, you see what they will say... lol. 'not my job, we got nurses
to do, i juz examine and give prescription' ha. or worse, ask janitor.

was staring at my homepage (aka blog page) and realised britney could be even
fitter than me! heard of all the sit ups she did. wah. 500 a day.

anyway wanted to blog this long time ago but dunno why keep forgetting...
i still remember i got angry a few times when pple think i join so many red cross
activities just for CCA points. then tt time found it so hard to prove them otherwise.
then recently i juz realised how could i have missed it.

yes watever i joined may appear in the testimonial but only the rank contributes
to the PEARLS system. so if u are a cadet officer who dont do anything or participate
in a lot of activities, u still get 4 points. :] all the activities u joined, the school
aint interested to know. haf i wasted my time? A BIG FAT definitely NO. being enthu,
became 'oh, u dun haf to rush like tt to get ya cca points' 'i dunno whether u join
so many things is it for cca points'
... ya so u guys get the picture so next time
if another jc student is enthu abt his/her CCA, be more encouraging.

like i have said, time will tell. i definitely see myself many long yrs to come in RCY.
Ok now, studies more impt. ciao~

23.08.04, Monday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

imagine this:
you came home and found a dead cockroach under ya bed.
after clearing the cockroach, you open ya lunch box and one of the dishes is squid
with tentacles.

lol. almost lost my appetite. today so sian. me 2 frenz didnt go sch. i spent 4 periods
in the library studying energetics -_- haiz muz be more efficient tml. got to take
a nap first. continue mugging soon :] lol my chem tutor asked me whether i coming
to sch tml. haha. as usual.

22.08.04, Sunday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

Shall make it a quick one. Today so boring. juz study and lucky i didnt spend
thirty mins watching the table tennis match. i was right! do feel sad cos so near yet
so far. and haf to wait for another 4 yrs but new gd players may come along so no
guarantee... singapore got no hopes for olympic medals in yrs to come until they
allow full time training with quality... now tt s'pore tried to haf full time
professional training (students sadly not included) while asian powerhouses like
china and japan already started long ago. thats why i'm sure its going to take some
time before we actually can win the olympics. and y singapore dun venture out other
sports like volleyball? lol. anyway winning olympics isnt everything. win world prix
or US open or titles similar can already. but too bad not as much monetary incentives.
anyway money also last thing on the athletes' minds. well most events of the Athens
died down le. now its only athletics (yawns) and volleyball (yeah).

get back to mugging le. :] tml onwards half day sch. hee...

21.08.04, Saturday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

today managed to execute my 9 hrs of study... maybe even more see whether i can
study thru the nite... for my 1 hr break, i watched the table tennis match which
got me so engaged... emotionally very much though... after the match i felt pretty
upset and demoralised. gosh i think i'm too sensitive leh. i cld actually felt the
hurt and its really strong cos i cldnt concentrate to study.

haiz thot she could win easily cos by the 4th game she already 3-1 sets. and she even
beat 11-0 in one of the set. who knows in the end lost 3-4. and tt korean made so
much noise. haiz.

not trying to be a spoilsport but dun u think whenever spore had media attn on the
athletes, they cant perform? everytime ' can he/she be the one to win an olympic
medal after 40 yrs?' and when they lost, news over, bye and take care. no reward
for getting into semi-finals. haiz.

susilo can defeat top seed while jia wei wif the second
seed, they cant win over unseeded vs 40th seed athletes? i think perhaps pressure
too much on them. so happy for jiawei for her 3 sets. haiz all she nids was one
more...

i cant bear to see the next match but sad to say the south korean got quite a high
chance. her chopping skills very gd. second, the south korean always wait for pple
to make mistakes and jiawei quite prone to tt and her power shots not as strong as
the Chinese top seed. third, jing and jiawei lost to the south korean pair during
the doubles... mmm...

against all odds, pls dun focus all the attn to jiawei again. let her beat the odds
in a low profile way like she did it wif wang nan.

dun dare to watch tml's match le. ok. now get back to study.

20.08.04, Friday ~ Hyped factor: 5/10

today went to sch at 10am. lucky nvr go for PE but i think i became infamoous for
having the most number of make-up PE. heard from my frenz its record breaking.
well haf to spend next week clearing them.

i so forgetful. borrowed 2 revision books, put in the locker and forgot to bring
home -_-. today a j1 walked into the sch b4 me. after i see he and the OM went into
the office, i quickened my pace. but guess wat, he came out in time to catch me. but
lucky me, i only brought a file. so i told him i went to get my file from my dad
outside the sch gate. tough luck.

then went to look for my pd tutor but couldnt find. so when i went for the last period,
my class was shocked that i came. haiz. feel sorry cos they had to do push up for the
accumulated make up PE. to think mine was worst, still got others also. haiz. then
checked the class photos that the photographic society took. i love all the 2 informal
and 1 format shots. cos i look gd in them. lol. really. j1 photos were like yucks.

and i can have a happy weekend cos my pd tutor finally tok to me. but hey maybe after
he relieved wat he had to say to my dad so dunno whether i still get hell. he also
quite shocked to see that i'm in school. probably he thot i pon sch again. and i
attended his GP consultation which he had forgotten. but he still lecture me la, this
time is that i chose the wrong GP essay topic to write. he said i shld pick something
we haf gone thru... well i'm not alone. so not so bad.

well back to study again. sianz muz go back to sch tml and get my books. arghz.

19.08.04, Thursday ~ Hyped factor: 6/10

Today seemed to be quite a peaceful day, for several reasons:

firstly, bio tutorial such a breeze, answers juz flashed and copied. spent most
of the time juz chatting wif tutor abt bio issues like ethics involved in allowing
women who are close to menopause to conceive babies. tok abt hormone replacement
therapy.

secondly, i understand maths: complex numbers. cos i got cool friends who lend me f
maths notes and i understand better.

thirdly, i haf GP test which was rather ez... abt gay marriage. lol. somemore the
2 passages are written in a light hearted fashion. ez to understand. the second one
best... analysing some of the american reality shows which featured gays like queer
eye for the straight, boy meets boy. but most importantly, i dont have to spend 2
periods looking at my tutor. and my ears got their relief from hearing him talk.

lastly, chem prac was not too difficult. its not that i dunno how to answer the qn,
juz that i didnt revise the prac notes. so some of the qn actually are repeated.
so i guess not too bad, haf to start digging out chem prac stuff...

but some things are still troubling me, but they are kinda trival. got so many
make up PEs to do. and PE dept so serious abt it. have to clear before i get the
guys in class into trouble. (do push ups) so most probable gg to use the whole next
week to clear. but sometimes after a day's lessons, u feel mentally tired to even
try runnning 10 rounds under the hot sun. oh well, hu ask me skip PE lessons. lol.

and tml i think its the cca handover ceremony. which i didnt attend. dunno wats going
to happen. there's no1 for me to handover, dunno why i had to go.

oh great news. i passed my math test (major ones) for the 2nd time for 2 yrs. lol.
first is my promo and now's next. haha. not something i shld be happy abt cos
it means that i nid to brush up on other areas. but hey its a stepping stone
for me. at least i know i can pass if i practice enough. :] but overall i noe i'm dun
haf the cut for maths la. so i haf to work extra hard.

gd luck for those whose exams coming soon. start studying now then no nid to cramp.
i spending every moment i can to study, even though i am blogging now. i searching
for vocabularies for my GP. hee...

oh btw, mini-me and shanZ u know who's my 'dear' le rite. lol. be nice ok, muz
smile... *hair stands*

18.08.04, Wednesday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

lucky i mastered the motto for national camp - resilience. if not i would have killed
my tutor. lucky today was a short day. was so pissed by him. a few days ago i posted
an apology letter that i wrote? which i removed cos i was thot that i wasnt being
sincere enough. guess wat happens when i gave the letter to my pd tutor? that fucking
(excuse me) tutor opened my letter and closed it instanteously and gave it back to me.

'There's nothing else to explain. you jolly well know what you have done.

I was stunned. after that, he added,
'whats your dad's number? i nid to speak to him. If not, i'm gg to ask him to
come down to school and meet me.'

i was fuming and 'wat the hell' almost came out of my mouth. wah if you were me, how
would u feel? i spent quite some time drafting the letter putting aside my work cos
i'm sincere in apologising to him. but the least he could do is to accept the letter.
if he dun wan to read or throw, i dont care but reject it in front of me and wat i
get in the end? more trouble. gosh. there seem to be nothing i can do to redeem
myself. like i committed some serious sin like dat. think he super bias. one of
my friend got early leave form and she juz put on the table today and wat, nothing
happens. if its me, diff case leh. for my early leave i nid to have MC attached to
it. wah like so many others could get away from skipping sch. seriously some1 pls
slap some sense into him. i feel so unjust.

so frustrated. my apology letter brought me more trouble. If some1 says saying sorry
doesnt hurt, i will be the first to scream 'hell no'.

today everything seemed so wrong. except that i managed to sneak into first aid club
gathering and eat one of their pizza and bitch abt today to shu hui and wei shan.
ronald susilo lost. haiz. somemore kena thrashed. 10-15, 1-15. amazing race, charla
and mirna were last and got eliminated. why the race team lost, cos they tried to get
earlier flight but the flight got delayed. sometimes it doesnt help to do more things
cos u nvr know when u will get messed up.

and AJ wonderful CCA dept had this handover-cum-stepping down ceremony. they say i
had to go. for wat? the cca not going to continue. hand over to who? step down? we
ar not given recognition in the first place wats the nid to step down? seriously,
they are too rigid. everything muz die die follow. i think if death can be pre planned
i think they will do up their death certificates. arghz.

received new timetable. crap. its juz shortened timetable. 145 go home. strangely,
there is still civics... somemore 2 periods. if 1 period for admin matters i understand.
2??? i was wondering if they are going to have revision lectures, why dont they have
slots for lectures and consultation time? die die muz force us wake up so early go
sch and follow the timetable... VJ has slotting thingy and u juz come for those lects
u nid or the tutorials. isnt that more effective? teachers can give stupid answers too.

'why muz we follow the timetable?'
'because we know some pupils cannot be left alone to study'

erm, by forcing them to come for lectures and tutorials, u think they will learn?
waste 45 mins somemore. they should give us time to practise and explore our area
of weaknesses then we can clarify our doubts. going thru everything as a mainstream,
not only slow down our revision but we are not giving priorities to the weaker topics.
and different pple have diff priorities. juz like this fri bio practice test. like
as if every1 start revising from the j1 topics. -_-

ok. let off my steam le. now can sleep better. tml got more things to handle.
got 2 tests. well at least GP test i can finally stop hearing the fat arse talk for
2 periods. *claps* and AJ is the only kuku college to have wat. make-up PE. and
i have to clear one tml.

Tuesday, August 17, 2004

hump... suddenly natcamp 06' struck me... gave me a sudden pump of adrenaline.
not really excited but the satisfaction i got from this yr maybe kinda overwhelming
for me... hee... wonder how others view my performance... mmm... pretty happy tt
i breakthrough. as i haf said joining so many activities really do stretch and make
me realise my potential. and it has been worthwhile organsing and executing. nothing
beats when cadets come to you and appreciate your effort. if i could record the whole
4 days in video... lol. cheering and dancing definitely make up the best part of the
camp. i am grateful to have such a sporting division. dare to go up the stage with
me to dance. And first time to see the guys enjoy the mass dance so much. and all
addicted to the song. thank you charlies, u guys dunno how much it meant to be appreciated.
Now every night in msn, could see their nicks filled with charlies. and biggest
challenge is to make pple shed tears and we succeeded. lol. i love my natcamp 04 team
for being so united and every1 covered more than they could.

well 2 yrs later, hope i can venture into FA duty. even though i may not be gd at it.
but haf to start somewhere and learn :] then can observe natcamp06.

17.08.04, Tuesday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

dull and dreadful day. i only looking forward to study breaks. first lesson got
screwed so sian... didnt manage to spit out 'oxygen is the final electron acceptor
in ETC' and got suaned that my answers are so o-lvl standard -_- the tone she had
like i was the only one who didnt noe the answers. my classmates all shoot me with
answers and every one i read out was wrong. well guess my class has not been
studying too... And fri she wanted to have a timed practice. and asked us whether
we have completed our revision up till ecology. and she stressed that we ought to
be around that topic. i was like 'wat the hell'. she told us to do our own revision
schedule. wat topics to cover etc. then she go thru the mainstream and expect every1
to revise from the earlier chapters. damn. now messed up my study plans. i wanted to
revise from the back cos there are a few concurrent tests on the latest chapters. so
logically i haf to study for them so i might as well revise from the back. now
she tell me she going to give a test this fri, i have to rush to study all the topics
in front. isnt that crap??? somemore she checked my study plans and said it was ok.
feel like telling her to just give me the questions, i will check answers with the
rest when i revise the topics. seriously no point to rush a few chapters within
a few days then i have to revise again later. messed up... arghz.

nuting much today. my pd cum GP tutor as usual haven called me to answer questions.
which is gd cos i no nid to malu myself if my answers not correct. bad tt i've been
ignored. lol. tell me who's being immature now? i dare to face him but seems like
i'm still a blurry shape to him.

sian hardly laugh in class... cos either no jokes or they were juz too lame. i wonder
the class laugh so hard to relieve stress? or that to show support for the jokers?

hump. shld i tell my tutor i not going for fri remedial? i really dun want to rush
juz to do the practice. haiz. i'm so screwed.

Monday, August 16, 2004

16.08.04, Monday ~ Hyped factor:2/10

oh well today started off sucky. as expected my pd tutor asked me to stay back
after the assembly. knew i gonna get screwed so was thinking of wat to say.
wah when i approached him, he was already fuming... started barking at me...
well it was a long story... and wat i did was wrong la. so those who are reading
dun follow... i handed in the excuse letter only on sat, i didnt hand it personally
cos if i were to hand in personally, i would definitely be persuaded not to go.
then if tt happens, if i still choose to go, i might even haf to get 3 days MC
which may complicate things even more. If my tutor persuaded me not to go, and i still
went, then would be defiance. that is even worse, later go to discipline com which
is the last thing i want. if he persuaded me not to go and i really dun go. lol. tts
not going to happen. if i can be persuaded not to go, i wouldnt haf signed up and
so eagerly wanted to go. so tt was the last resort.

But i did inform all my other subject tutors and i collected honework frm them and
got their acknowledgement. I wouldnt want to get all yes then when i see the pd
tutor and a no from him. how? not tt i disrespect him by leaving the letter in his
pigeon hole but i am more to NOT to be defiant to him. Haiz but no1 seem to understand.
Yes no matter wat, i am still wrong. but frm all the experience i had from the camp,
and the choice i made , the die-die also muz go camp, i haf to bear the consequence.
but i haf no regrets. pple may see me as irresponsible, unaccountable, watsoever,
i know what i do is wrong but given a situation like mine, wats ya take?

of course, the most moral way is to listen to the teachers and forgo the camp. yes,
they are persuading u for ya own good. But i am not playing moral 'police', like i
mentioned last time, when i am dead set in doing a thing, its unlikely u can change
my focus. And i haf already blogged earlier tat, i know prelim is impt, i know
they are not to be taken lightly, i know parents and teachers do this do that for
my own gd, i know my As are important, i know i shld spend more time studying.
haiz. been hearing all these... everytime i mean i will do it, i will.

i know they are worried that i may side track and lose focus on my studies, but the
tone they have is like i n-e-v-e-r study at all. and i noe i'm responsible for
wat i do. so mr C-H-E-N-G, stop thinking that i will run crying to you if my
results are not gd. and stop using testimonial to threaten me. so unjust. my class
so many of my classmates, they were clearly skipping sch and sometimes he didnt even
ask for their letters. haha. today my class didnt turn up for his remedial and he was
damn pissed. but hey guess who he lashed it out on? ME

'So if you guys not interested, i can do away with the remedial'
then he asked one by one whether we still want the remedial.
each one nodded his/her head. then when he called my name, i nodded.
'ok, not as if you are here a lot.'

deep inside me i wanted to shout 'WAT!'
wah, i was 'pissified'. could have slammed the table and walked off. wat is his prob?
i wasnt even skipping his class on fri lo. so unhappy to teach then dun teach la.
he cant teach GP for nutz. every1 in my class is talking behind his back and he thinks
the whole class likes him a lot. I was feeling guilty the whole morning and on my
table i did all the work that are supposed to be handed up today. my class still
got pple who have the whole 4 days to do and yet didnt do. yet he nvr say a thing.

the whole morning i was so distracted that i broke a microscope slide. lucky no nid
to pay. i was like a body without a soul. lifeless. i floated from class to class.
but deep down it was charlie that kept me going. everything was worth it.
then when i went home, wah almost got knocked down. the car missed me by my tip of
my shoes. the horn so loud i also went deaf. tt was how distracted i am.

haiz. now muz write an apology letter. so mixed feelings. sorry yet unjust.
tml i haf four periods with him. gosh, how to survive.

did the devil in him got released from the gates today?

Saturday, August 14, 2004

14.08.04, Saturday

lol. cant give a rating for my hypeness cos the 4 days of NatCamp would have
break the meter le. really. best camp i ever had. maybe the involvement and the
emotional attachment i had. having camp hangover now... missed chem and bio test today.
well start wif first day?

10.08.04, Tuesday
i woke up at 3+ when i slept at 12+. cos i was so scared i overslept. then i took
a cab to HQ and its 16 bucks cos 50% surcharge. damn. no first train haf to reach
by 6am. excited abt going for camp but deep down stressed cos i always not tt gd in
ra-ra the crowd. and so many UGs, if dun perform :( first time handling 80+ cadets
together with 5 instructors unlike Unit leader programme so many instructors.

reached SAF terminal the moment i hear other instructors shouting, i got stressed.
got tt feeling wont be able to enjoy the camp feeling. more of competing to see
which division fare better. dunno how to bring across the stress level to u guys.
maybe juz me la. i very competitive one.

as the charlies from other UG come settling in, they came in wif sian sian look, i got
more worried. thinking of what cheer to do, wat game to play. but even though we played
games like 'squirrel and tree', at least we are the first division to proceed on more
than juz intro the members. saw a few charlies giving the sian look, wah i immediately
stressed. wanted to go back do admin n attendance taking...

oh then came first activity. i went to archery. no chance to practice... kinda sian.
then went to first aid and cpr. and discover they taught wrong stuff... lol. then
dinner came. quite nice. division time freaked me out cos nothing to do doesnt
reflect well... so keep brainstorming...

mountain biking. i break into cold sweat. long time nvr cycle. now somemore so
challenging... all the slopes. i braked still moving down. then charlie got highest
casualty rate. haiz. got a few sent home.

then we had games... i thot of the sock game. starting was scared that they didnt like
it. but seems like they loved the socks! lol no la, the game. when i see the other
division like bravo(by NPCC) and alpha(by SJAB) looking at us (wif envy?), i feel so
shiok. haha. alpha was lying down cos no prog... lol. heard frm one of the alpha cadet.
then had like dog and bone thingy. loser chase winner in a scissors-paper-stone game
dunno why they kept doing winner chases loser. lol. then had a inter-sector cheering
competition. which we came up wif out division cheer:

Go like a champion, go go
Fight like a champion, fight fight
Go like a champion, fight like a champion
All the rest can go fly kite
fly kite, fly kite, all the rest can go fly kite
fly kite, fly kite, all the rest can go fly kite

this cheer is really dynamic when u do it jumping... lol. thanks to ek.
oh ya we haf the charlie power thingy. hee...

2 hrs passed so fast... we also taught them the titanic song, not celine dion one.

11.08.04, Wednesday
PT was yawnz... not challenging...
charlie got to go first cos we are cheering powerhouse.
breakfast ok la. SFI food cant expect much.
had outdoor cooking. learnt a few new stuff tt can be cooked. then had the ATF and
jumar. all the climbing i wanna do but no 1 accompany me. so nvr do. sianz...
but could see charlies enjoy themselves, cheering each other... but something was
missing... not very bonded yet. so had to think wat to do.

then was all the wet activities. told myself, die die also muz do... then kayaking
also nvr do cos no partner. lol. then suddenly the NPCC commandant DSP Geraldine Tan
asked me to go kayaking wif her. lol. so honoured. and stressed. then when we kayak
beyond the boundaries, the NPCC coast guard shouted at us. then when we approached
nearer, they suddenly shouted 'sorry ma'am', so hilarious... seeing charlies shouting
and singing while doing jetty jump... felt so happy for them.

then it was boat rowing... was fun la, but not the most fun. cos poor charlie had to
shift the boats cos we are the last division for the activity that day. trap making
didnt sit in. cos was zzz... lol.

then division time was fun fun fun! they learnt mass dance, we had a hard time
'chop' that place, the foyer. then the first aiders came to join us learn mass dance.
was actually performing for charlies to see cos they dance so well. in the end, so
many audience, all want encore. i was dehydrating le... i think we ended the nite quite
well, some felt high... haha. i think the emotions like roller coaster, going to peak.

12.08.04, Thursday
oh yeah, campfire nite. but sad. end of activity. i only went for campfire organisation.
the rest i nvr attend cos i was bz wif first aid duty. lol. part time.
wah then campfire havoc sia. throw pple up in the air, keep cheering. we rocked the
stage for our performance. we danced the whole nite. almost. partying. cheering.
dancing. very wild until u cant imagine. last min i use the flag to play limbo rock.
lol. i missed those times... played wif water... being thrown up in the air was cool.

then there was 2 casualties during campfire. both also sent to hospital. one suspected
ankle facture. one bee sting. haiz. then i felt kinda guilty cos it was ez to link
up as division leaders not able to control the crowd. but hey the injuries occurred
even before they started going wild. i cut back on controlling them cos its really a
mood-killer but i did ensure their safety. U think i wan my charlies to get injured meh?
after topping the casualty list?

lots of memories... every1 in msn now 'charlie' sure appear. i so glad i have
'breakthrough' juz like my sec sch motto. did things tt i nvr imagine i could. wld
like to thank the charlies. they made it possible. they surprised me...

still remember a few incidents:

when hotel division did the same cheer as us, i juz anyhow say 81, then they all
started chanting '81...81...81...', i almost freaked out. then during campfire,
everytime they hear hotel, they go '81...81...' if not, 'go geylang go... go geylang go'.
lol. then taught them the cheer:

do we look as if we care, dont care, heck care
do we look as if we care, we dont give a damn
we dont give a damn, we dont give a damn
do we look as if we care, we dont give a damn

then they practically sang to whenever they feel like. so when we didnt win the best
division, they auto sing that cheer. glad that they like my mass dance...
accidentally in love.

so much emotions. cant pen them down. sum up. its the BEST camp with the BEST pple.
so hyper u cant imagine. so many leaders u cant imagine. new friendships made. unmistakable.

07.08.04, Saturday ~ Hyped factor: 7/10

lol. today made a blunder. maths test only 3 topics. i went to study the whole of
stats... not enuff time for vectors... but lucky it was a short and ok test. at least

06.08.04, Friday ~ Hyped factor: 8/10

Yeah... today did something that my tutor has something to write in my testimonial...
i was super enthu for the AJ Race. (something like Amazing Race) Almost late for
school cos the auntie locked the back gate at 725!!! i had to run all the way frm
the back gate to the front to beat the 730 clock. then when i joined the class, some
of my (yucks) classmates were like 'hey u are here!' and another few were like 'ey,
you nvr pon today har?' -_- so pissed with them. they seriously dunno when to joke.
oh ya they can get very lame with a capital L... laughing at their own jokes at times.
oh ya, cos i did research on the three places we were supposed to go. RI, Scouts HQ
and YCK Mrt Station. Haiz. the RI boys in my class dunno wat the medallions in the
crest were wat and given to who... my pd tutor was like pengz... then they asked qns
like name 4 of the politicians who were ex RI boy. Then in scouts HQ same thing
happen. the scouts didnt know completely why the building was name after the guy.
but ok la. normally we dun put too much attn to history. and somemore its like 1-2
yrs since they stepped into RI or remember history of scouts movement. not like rck.
lol. if only they go RC HQ. :P then we managed to rush to the mrt and wat i researched
came out! like the number of cars in the trains. 6. biggest and smallest mrt stations
: raffles place and redhill. how many stations are elevated, underground and name
the station that is on ground level. 34. 16. bishan :]

but we were close enuff... we got 6th while they gave prizes to top 5 :(
but had gd food. every1 was full.. we shot class video... cool :]

ok tml got scary math test. dunno whether want to pon bio prac and bio remedial.
cos i scared it drag for too long and i cant excuse myself... i got NatCamp briefing
at 2pm.

sorta alienated. no hp, no net. seriously i spent half the time wondering hu will
msg me and abt going online.

oh no, i felt guilty going for nat camp.. my fat arse tutor had a calm talk with me.
telling me my results not showing (whats new?). i haf to buck up and dun skip sch
anymore... also told me he got nothing to write in my testimonial so i had to earn
things for him to write. phew lucky my cca teacher got things to say... and its gd.
and now i going for nat camp. dunno whether will drive him to his grave. even though
he's now engaged... spent a night over at his erm... lol. he's pretty gd mood these
days. today seemed to pass so fast... tml gonna be fun minus the bio remedial after
the class party. hope she cancels it. haiz. sat got test. sianz. then after test,
