it is scary and yet upsetting to know someone's fantasy becomes your nightmare.

When you are young, your whole life is about the pursuit of fun. Then you grow up and learn to be cautious, You could break a bone or heart. You look before you leap. Sometimes you don’t leap at all because there's not always someone there to catch you. In life, there is no safety net. when did it stop being fun and start being scary?

Whatever it is, i am glad to have someone to catch me when i fall.

..:: 450. The One With Results ::..

someone's results were out today and i guess i was more worried.

whatever the results were, i always told myself results are not the most important thing. i had my fair share of bad results and some due to me not studying, while some not studying because of other reasons. depression, the feeling of giving up, feeling hopeless, felt there was no need to study, and so many more.

who do not want to have good results? but when circumstances dont allow, i dont get what i wished for. sometimes it is because i had too high expectations, sometimes i dont even know what i am doing during the exams and hoping i can score well. my jc years were screwed up. firstly, i gave up on myself, no motivation to study... it was a trip downhill and when i 'woke' up and finally wanted to change... it was too late, i could only salvage whatever i could, but not good enough.

but i always believe life will always take a different turn if you are positive enough. recently checked out meaning of a word, d***m: belief in a God who created the world but has since remained indifferent to it.

i choose to believe otherwise. at least not the indifferent part. when there's hope (will), there's a way. there are so many possibilities and alternatives in the path that is untravelled.

when i got my results, didnt dare to tell my parents :( scared they were be too disappointed. ever since i was in secondary school, i had developed the competitive nature. i always wanted to go all out to go into medicine. then when i could not make it, i often ask myself, am i really stupid - trying to be what i never could be? or did i not try hard enough?

i told my uncle and he laughed at me, 'wah with your results, you go study chinese medicine la'. i was heartbroken, devastated...

in the end i told my mum, thinking that she will be disappointed as she always had high expectations of me. it wasnt the case. she sat down and consoled me. she told me 'there are a lot of tests in your life you have to take, things just dont turn out the way you hope this time round.' i never felt that comforted. my mum who had only secondary education could say that to me.

sometimes results dont mean everything. sometimes what you need maybe just someone who cares and listens to you. sometimes you just need to believe yourself and give yourself another chance, even when you think that there are no more chances.

true enough, from the thought of me never ever making to a university, i had offers for 2 scholarships, one in teaching, other in saf. why give up on hope yourself, when god has not? ok, maybe not god, but could be anyone...

i probably got into the university not because of results but of my other attributes. and i thought i should be proud of myself too. sometimes failures are hard to 'swallow' or rather accept, it is probably because you feel that there are others judging you. i have learnt to go easy but of course not giving myself excuses for not doing well but believing that gloating over results is not worthy.
as much as you may feel that your case is worse than mine, you are not alone. confide to someone and dwelling on depression wont make things better.

walk on and you will be pleasantly surprised :)

P.S: there are other things you might be good in. that's why i love to go to less developed countries to do community work, it makes me feel how blessed i am and how much i have take things for granted. like for my friend who had tutored a sec sch boy and he is doing well... 'Hopefully he can change for the better with the positive influence i had'... we do have our strengths :)

had the best time of my life...

had dinner with my family... at jurong point crystal jade... all paid by me! close to 200 bucks, most ex dinner i paid for, but for family, it's definitely worth it.

then another fren of mine... so long haven eaten turkey breast meat from the whole turkey b4... dined and wine and ice cream cake :P

apart from this, sex and the city really brought up issues faced by people, be it sex or relationship... one episode about S & M (sadism and masochism - sadomasochism), reads: interaction, esp. sexual activity, in which one person enjoys inflicting physical or mental suffering on another person, who derives pleasure from experiencing pain with stuff like whip and leather and tying up.

before that, yesterday i was onboard a train heading to camp in peak hour period... then this 'private' from sispec (easily recognised as he got a different epaulette)... i held my breath cos i also was in uniform... next thing when he saw me, ...

he saluted and greeted me 'good morning sir'.

i gasped... the train was so packed and those around me turned and looked at me... wah paiseh.

i think opening a candy shop can really make big bucks... i saw those queueing in front of me had bought sweets and chocolate worth of 100+ dollars... especially now is christmas season... even girls who diet will also eat some sweets and would give up carboh ydrates and proteins for chocolate...

i was one of the victims today... hopefully those who get my chocolates will enjoy eh?

went for islandwide publicity for my sports club event... tiring but my job is almost done! waiting for posters to be up, singlets to be printed and setting up booths in school :)

btw, the india doha female runner got striped of her medal cos she failed her gender test! omg, talk about weirdest tests on earth.

was at bukit panjang plaza ntuc buying food... then saw kiasu singaporeans in action! saw one couple prying open all the available kiwis(packed in a box like strawberries)... choosing those good ones and transfer into one box. sick.

then at the fuji apples section, one of the staff brought out a crate of new apples... a few started to crowd around the staff... picking the apples straight from the crate... never even give the auntie a chance to put the apples on the shelves...

..:: 443. The One With Shopping & Movie ::..

whee.... finally did some retail therapy... but u noe it feels different when u do with someone who makes your heart skip a beat... didnt know shopping can be so exhilarating... running ard the malls just to buy clothes before the shops close... had great 'harvest'... spent in total about 400+ not including meals... hole in the pocket but very fulfilling to the heart and soul. this kind of feeling you cant buy it with $.

bought some winter coat for my finland trip... went zara, levis... the food in the big o restaurant is kinda orgasmic... bacon wrapped chicken... so sinful but very delicious.. yummy...


then went to catch 'the holiday', late night movie... very nice !! so sweet... those lovey dovey shows... just touches you and makes every unromantic person alive :) but hor.. still got pple snore in the theatre... lol.

today such a hectic day... had to sign like up to hundred cards... i mean for my attachment stuff... closing some account...

..:: 442. The One With Camp and Love ::..

i think my heart is aging faster than my body is. After half a day of leading cheers and keeping the secondary sch cadets high, i was already feeling tired. i see the girls doing and enjoying every moment. not that i dun enjoy but the feeling is different, perhaps its one-man show, perhaps i find it hard to 'play' with the cadets. What i really wanna do is to sit down and talk to them, like encouraging them and giving them perspectives and listening to what they have to say. You need to be more active and hyper than them in order for it to be contagious... gosh, i am only 20 but i felt like i was 30... plus last time i could handle like 80+ cadets...



but at the end of the day, no doubt they have made me feel younger... really appreciate them giving their best for performance and keeping themselves high throughout the campfire. saw my sec sch cadets in the camp... they have matured a lot and very noisy in the group! which is good la, make your presence felt :)

had archery... my left wrist somehow moved during the release of the arrow and the string kena my arm :( bruised, looked scarier than what i have imagined...



went shopping at heeren... so happy. didnt know i got my pay so early. got lots of stuff but not for myself which was weird but still happy :) x'mas gift exchange... dunno what to buy...

need to shop for winter clothes for my finland trip... just got the ticket.

well. finally exam ended on 23th, Mon. my worst paper :( didnt have time to finish but quite a lot also didnt manage. i even had to guess MCQs worth of 20m. sian. hopefully can get a B...

i really miss school... ok u guys may think i'm crazy. but i miss having classmates, lunch dinner kakis... holiday not really holiday for me. got so much things to settle. i have hall dance to choreograph. have my national event meetings and planning... have red cross camp... not forgetting meetings... i have my ntu dance practices that will resume... i got vocational attachment which i just reported to this morning... discovered i am involved in doing accounting... cant reveal much but great responsibility and i have to be meticulous.

been checking out my time table for next sem, the one that they planned for us i have only monday free. hoping to reconfigure to get a mon, fri free. 3 day week!

the unit i'm attached to has really nice people. all so fatherly and motherly... cant wait to make my number 3 (another kind of uniform) so it will be much more cooling and can differentiate from the new officers that are coming in... cos new officers supposed to be 'initiated' and that is not a gd thing.

anyway felt really blessed :) new-found motivation, new meaning in life :) the cause for my beauty sleep.

wah jacky cheung appeared on DOHA opening ceremony at 150am... great visuals effect from the whole show... plus dick lee and iskander (looks weird) compositions were showcased. heard the crew involved is also involved in ndp07 this year, organised by the engineers :)

i look at the army new commercial tt is now on tv, i feel really great to be in the army. despite so many people complaining and the 'can't-wait-to-ord' feelings, i still like to serve the country. i am weird, can?

anyway more importantly i had great papers so far... first paper was AB105: organizational behaviour and design. difficult part was to finish the paper on time. too much to write too little time. open book exam i only flipped through my own notes. added citation... somemore prepare 2 pages of references, cut and pasted behind the exam answer booklet -_- lol.

a bit overdo but well good impression and i really did a lot of readings and prep so should not waste it. only got one chance.

2nd paper was a bit more worrying. i didnt manage my time to study for the module. on the day of exam, i still studying macroeconomics :( AB106, principles of econs closed book make me cram all the terms... paper in the evening somemore, yawnz... went in the exam hall feeling so insecure... somemore sweating from all the walking... i think so far my worst paper... got a 14m question drew the graph wrongly... and a part of question worth 4m never answer -_- just hope overall B happy le...

3rd paper was intro to human resource management ... 2 papers today :( while i was doing last min reading up at the sports and recreation hall, i saw the superstar contestant, chen diya from my sch... lol. she was singing and talking to her frenz abt her experience. so noisy... cant concentrate. another closed book exam that drove me crazy. i woke up 8am to memorize points but fell asleep to wake up at 1145 to meet my friend at 12pm. but luck was on my side, what i studied came out. nothing more nothing less. happy i got jackpot.

went back hall to get my marketing notes and did last min research on SPRING. standard, productivity, innovation board ... rest for awhile then head for my next paper... AB112. stunned to find myself sitting right in front. when i saw the questions, stunned... not that they are difficult but got so much to write then i don't know where to start. lucky for the da chang jin influence, i used it as part of the experiential marketing i gave as my examples for a restaurant... keep my fingers crossed. my hopes for 2As - OB and marketing... if can get a plus even better.. can offset my other modules like econs and stats o_O

but sometimes feeling good don't equate to good results, but though left with last paper, i'm so in a holiday mood. attending my malay teacher's wedding and asked about tradition and culture from my malay friend... dun wanna violate any customs...

how is the world out there? i only know korea got a few thousand chicken died.

oh ya had a mcdonald dinner with laiyee and michelle, my 2 kopi sohs... great time catching up. our hands 'cui' (goner) from all the writing... wrote 2.5hrs non stop... a booklet with about 20 pages, i left with 3.

watch project superstar and so sad kenny went out, i thot he was quite good. u mean girls dun like cute guys? they like short guys like that jeremy chan with a headband? poor shiyu think he has lost the appeal... something weird. why shiyu said ' wo dui bu qi da jia' (i let you all down)? i mean he should have said, ' i wanna thank all those who supported me, to those who didnt, you let me down.' isnt it? lol and the judges mentioned he looked fat wearing white... i mean if he looks fat then moses lim how?

as for the girls, i was so relieved veronica went out? i guess she made her first impression as arrogant. and the song not very nice also... and the magdalene with the husky voice was mentioned to have the best dress sense. pui. fold the white shirt a bit, put on suspender (or watever it is), she looks gd?

forecasting... assuming i look good ( i know it is hard to imagine but at least can give me some rights to say things abt pple), for the guys, easily can tell who will be going out next week. if by superstar face, wee jian and jeff will be out next with their superscar face. lol. ok i was mean. but hey 'salty fish can flip its body', meaning against all odds, they might woo people to vote for them... even the F2 dawn wong who looked like some china girl also got in... wont be too hard for the dudes i guess. for the girls, hard to predict, cos pics can be so deceiving... chen diya from my sch is a smart girl eh, nanyang girls, hwa chong jc... and she has a nice voice as i mentioned... minus her height disadvantage, joining club 158.

Yesterday managed to experience the wrath of mugging for a whole day. purely marketing. a few things kept lingering in my mind.

first thing was about relationships... seems like most people around me who used to be 'attached' are now single and readily available... so what actually happened? busy schedules? conflicting interests or worse, issues? or is Singapore getting boring, lack of place for dating... I guess this pretty much gives us a prelude to why divorce rates are rising... will children be the only source that is keeping marriages alive? perhaps the next 'in' thing would be cohabitation...

secondly, sometimes there are things you should really keep to yourself. For me, i kind of regret letting my friends know that i had come up with a summary list of terms for one of my modules.

You can call me selfish or what, but it is really 'What's in it for me?' when i share my revision list. my not-so-close friends msged me 'hey can i have your revision list?' what would you do? i was more irritated when they said, 'hey, i was online, why you never send me...'

WHEY. firstly, i spent 3 hours doing up the list and i am still considering sending to you (more than one) for just less than 3 mins. secondly, the least you could have do is trade something, NOTHING. thirdly, you sounded like i owe you something... even if you are online, the least you could do is to pop up a window and ask?

If you were me, would you still send? I don't want to be selfish but these issues are touchy. even the tutor subtly mentioned, it is best you do your own revision notes.

thirdly, was quite pissed off with the service APPLE had. i ordered an iPod Shuffle online and the stated shipment date was yesterday. Hence, today i made a few calls trying to find out where exactly is my iPod Shuffle lying in the world. I was then informed that there was a late shipment so the earliest shipment date is mon and latest by tue. I mean, if you expect the overseas shipment to be late, you can at least send a mail or call since you have our details. I am not trying to be a fussy customer but with such service standards, APPLE has to think twice about going far.

..:: 437. The One With End of Projects ::..

finally... my projects are officially done with :)

no more staying up late... no more meetings... no more powerpoint...

and to top it all, got A+ for all my projects :) definitely a great start :)

my first project was for marketing. we have to set up a company and come up with business plan and present to the class. my group did 'dingdong.sg' a one-stop delivery service for food, clothes, gifts, etc. shot a video which i added the channel u intro :)

marketing presentations are crazy. the minimum number of slides from a group was 130.

so glad after our presentation, our tutor who was super strict with us before the recess gave A++... yes 2 plus! lol...

we even treat the class coffee and buns as part of our opening act...

then next project was our organisational behaviour (ob) and design module. that grade was tedious and difficult to get. consist of 3 parts. after we presented a case, we are open to 'attacks' from the rest of the class. and when other groups are presenting, we have to think critically to answer questions or value add to what they have said. the tough part was we had to look up for credible journals, find theories and citations to support what we say. as my tutor said, 'no coffee shop talk allowed'. whatever we say must link it using ob terms.

after 3 weeks, she flashed the results on ppt and just as our group thought we didnt do as well cos we were the first group to present. we got A for case. A+, A for attacks and an overall A+. best group among her 3 classes. we almost jumped for joy.

ok. sorry i'm in my satisfaction-progression process (OB term). intrinsic motivator for myself :)

then last project was on McDonalds. our group chose china as our approach with much worries... but as we present, i felt it was the best content presentation. in the words of my tutor, 'this is definitely a A+, they speak with facts and figures, you cant argue with them...' a 20MB, 153 slides that i never thought the end product could be so satisfying.

also went to do some 'fund raising' for my hall... dunno why they wanna use the term 'canvassing' which doesnt seem to be the correct term. anyway was at the great eastern women 10km run. took cab with my hall mates at 4am! to padang. so tired. but the adidas dri-fit tee and cap were worth it :P

had a feel of driving. addicted but now exams drawing near.

finally caught a movie! and it's at cineleisure with my long-long fren, toby. lol.

SILK is so... nice. it's a must watch. at first thought it was some cheap horror movie talking about ghost, spirit, after-life. but it really touched me and scared me at the same time. the story uncovers more excitingly as the show goes on... i 'climaxed' a few times. lol. wrong word to use but just you thought the show gonna end, more weird stuff appeared.

must go catch the show.. especially since i blog just to recommend the movie.

went vivocity and dropped my jaw... literally. so big, you can easily get lost. finally some place to satisfy my retail therapy... every shop in singapore i think you can find there... minus neighbourhood stores... even kopitiam and banquet were side by side. divided by a barrier cos kopitiam non-halal...

i bought a pair of nike shorts cos my army shorts are freaking short! for one with lanky legs, unglam sia... emphasise my ultra malnutrition-ed legs :( at least it covers up till my knees :) now you can only see my leg hairs. hehe...

bought dvds... the break up and friends special episodes of rachael...ok sorry i adore jennifer aniston can?

and birthday present for my gal friend. lucky gal. :P

i got offer for overseas CIP expedition, hopefully army can excuse me. :(

got video transcript to do. it's so hard cos it's an interview with a kid! you know they like to mumble and say things that are out-of-point. so hard to figure out what they trying to say... -_-

oh... i ate a lot today. had 2 servings of lunch, dinner and even ate supper. lunch had roast chicken and udon as second serving. dinner noodles and pork chop meal. supper at 2am 3 x prata :)

..:: 434. The One With Back to Myself ::..

gosh so fast a month has passed! everyday been busy with project discussion, that's why i never update my blog... not much happening also. i am busy but at the same time enjoying all the while. been really blessed with all the people ard me... supportive classmates who always make tutorials so enjoyable. everyone smiles in class :)

this week (after my recess week) was the start of accessed presentations. first up was the marketing project abt this destiny cafe where their targeted market was couples... a cafe and place for them to get cosy and they provide meals and board games. weird thing was that they had this 12 hours for 30 dollars package. i mean... who will play for 12 hrs? in the end they got B+ which was surprising cos our tutor never gave anything better than C.

i think perhaps their targeted group is more of high segment. really scared of my group's cos we target the middle-high segment with a special kind of 'delivery service' like vertu but definitely not as 'class' as a cafe.

next was the case study of banyan tree. the group got an F when they did giordano. so my friend was really scared. just 1/4 through the presentation, the tutor suddenly asked them to cycle through and we were stunned. 'you all can cycle through, easily an A+'. *silence* but i could see my friend grinning thru'out the presentation. what a breakthrough. wah. now my group feels stress to 'upkeep' the market.

who says go SMU to study business is better? i guess people here are more 'real' though we are competitive in our own ways. we did our project from 11pm to 6am. everything must have a first, dont u think?

oh well me organised steamboat-cum-mahjong for my sports camp og in my hall room. went to supermarket bought all the stuff and prepared all by myself. *claps*

then went to nus ucc for dance blast! concert. not bad. quite cool to have a ex ntu award winning dj to spin tracks at the back. but hip hop steps kinda limited. a lot of reggae and butt shaking and gang-fight themes :(

school getting hectic... quizzes coming up and lots of reading to do. my class super competitive and always wants to be the 'spoil market'. we read extra and produce presentations for even a simple tutorial question. however, i really learnt a lot from the sharing. our tutors were impressed and of course it is to our advantage. only our class meet up every other day. other class say we crazy.

2 sep we had sports ball at intercontinential hotel and it was really fun with all the costumes... didnt have camera so had to 'borrow' pix. more pix will be up.

of course must start of with pix update. life in NTU definitely exciting and interesting. thanks to all the seniors and freshies around me.

now for the not so fun part, studying in uni is really different from the times i had in jc. perhaps times in ajc wont that good so i really treasure every moment here in NTU. had tutors that are either associate professors or Dr. kinda cool. very freestyle though strangely most of my tutorials still need to take attendence and my math tutor actually goes around to check our work :(

perhaps in business, i enjoyed the interaction in all my tutorial classes. SMU may protray students being interactive and participation marks are significant but i think my class did as well if not better. Publicity and gimmicks makes 'other' universities look good but i feel i have made the wisest choice here. though 3 yrs accelerated honours is a big short to enjoy life but hopefully those who are searching for a uni next time, think uni think NTU :)

my class super competitive. i wonder raising such high standards at the start of tutorials will benefit us in the long run... later our tutors expect more and we cannot deliver...

today happy sia. for organizational behaviour presentation... got the highest 75. not bad for our first presentation. i spent a lot of time researching and glad it paid off and were relevant and most importantly impressed the tutor.

my whole class took econs b4 except me... i looked so dumb in class. the pace was so fast... cramp 2 yrs of econs into 3 mths. wah. econs tutorial the most stressful...

aikes have to go back to study and tutorials.

ntu started semester the earliest compared to the rest of the universities. quite pissed i have not got my annual allowance. called up and was told to wait another 2 weeks or so... when they have to give money, the process always takes so long.. but when it comes to deduct money, instantly man...

before sch started, had a mini celebration for satu kosong. my red cross friend :)



went to watch fireworks display with my pumbaa buddies... had heart to heart talk... but the crowd was wah.



had lots of outing...

went to watch click wth my friend then again with my pumbaa people...

decided to run for NTU Sports Club main com... logistics officer.
at the meeting room...



as usual cam whoring...

then the usual supper... i dun mind cos i wont grow fat...



this semester the modules i am taking are statistical and quatitative methods, marketing, principles of econs and organisational behaviour and design . quite relax cos i got thur no sch and fri only one period. so i took up elective, introduction to human resource management.

cannot take it. we go buy extra side dishes...



11th stop: west coast recreation centre. bowling!



hitch a ride to qian hu fishing farm... our 12th and final stop. the critical factor that let us win 3rd place.
