Today's blog theme is 'TV Day' . I got lots to talk abt but hey muz start frm
this morning. ya. daily routine.
Forgot to bring tie today again. or shld i say it has become a conditioned reflex. lol.
and once again i muz stress that i like sch. haha. maybe fat arse didnt bother or
harass me these days. He has been taking lots of MC. one of the most among the teachers,
pregnant ones. lol. muz be influenced by pple like me... and ya i think i have the
sleeping disease. dunno why everytime during break i feel like sleeping, 15 mins into
the break when i am NOT eating of course. slept during 3 breaks. first break
study bio then sleep, second break read GP then sleep. last break do maths then sleep.
Came home today and had a nap. now feeling alive! oh ya btw i get to see my two
deltarians in NatCamp :]
Back to TV, who says watching TV is no good. today i watched 2 programmes and learnt
a lot. first was the reality TV, amazing race.
hey dun get turned off yet. haven get into the real stuff. This season the contestants
get really ugly, not their looks but their behaviour. Some stuff they mentioned, are
worth taking note. Firstly, fear brings out the worst in people i muz really
agree to it. The fear of losing has made teams rejoycing at each other's mishaps or
mistakes. Some even went out to lie and deceive pple. Just like the 'bowling mums'
who went to tell the military dad and daughter they had to change to foreign currency
where the citizens there actually accept US currency. All this just to stall time so
that the bowling mums wont be last. But hey in the end they got retribution. then
there were more than one team saying 'ihope not everyone gets here in time' 'i am
hoping one team does not get on(the ship) so we can take a break.' ' dont wait for
them!' See with these people ard, who needs enemies?
Then when they were at Uruguay, one of the team (Marshall and Lance, names not impt,
juz recognise them as jerks) asked the locals for directions and when they didnt know,
the guys said 'All the people there were... wat. useless. useless foreigners' ouch.
Lesson 2: Ask, dont assume
One of the tasks was to go find a tombstone in the cemetary. But there were many in
Argentina (second place they went to). Some of the teams got the wrong name of the
cemetary and when they board the taxi, they didnt bother to ask the cab driver whether
the correct tombstone can be found in the cemetary. They were supposed to go to
Recoleta but Charcarita popped up cos it was the tomb of the husband of the lady, where
in fact they are supposed to find a tomb of an impt lady (forgot her name).
second incident: during a 'detour' when they get to choose to do one task out of two.
There was task 'Perro' or 'Tango'. Perro refers to dogs, in which the task is to walk
the 8 dogs for a mile and pass checkpoints. the two teams they chose it gave up in the end
cos they couldnt find the checkpoints. So many passers-by were standing there and they
didnt even bother to ask for help. haiz. in real life, i face this kinds of problems too.
when pple need help, they dont ask. or rather dunno for wat reason, they cant seem to
open their mouth to ask for help. Well, i nid help i will ask. haha. so pple ard me,
beware. haha. oh ya one of the teams led a group of dogs where by 2 were trying to have
sex. haha. humping along the way. one of the team member 'here i am lost and i got
dogs fucking in front of me'. lol... reality does have its funny twist!
still got incidents where teams quarrel among themselves. its quite common. but hear
this 'if you wont blonde, you wouldnt be tt stupid' ouch.
this week the team that got eliminated was due to the fact that they tried to save
money -_- they had enough money to take taxi but they chose to take the bus. haiz.
Next TV Programme that made me finish my maths tutorial after 2 hrs was the 'Animal World'
where they had an episode on Black Mamba (one of the world's most toxic snake in
southern africa. Its really scary cos the snakes were hatched near homes of civilians.
Imagine finding snakes at your home.. eeks. moreover the new-born snakes are as long
as normal adult snakes and they are equally venomous as an adult.
They grow to 4m when they are adults. Then there was this ranger who helped household
catch these poisonous snakes, caught 5 out of 10 at a house where the kids are
running about. wah. phew.
The show also had 3 real life incidents with the snakes. It started off saying pple
in the area believed that the snakes which are capable of moving at 19km/hr can chase
its victims over 200m. wah tats half the track. Then this ranger is out to 'save' the
snakes and trying to educate the people to overcome their fear. He also did an
experiment showing that the snakes bite humans only during self defence. He collected
abt 3ml of venom and said this could have killed at least 5 or 6 people. from then on,
i was glued to the TV. haha.
Then it flashed to a second incident, whereby this guy had finished his water skiing
trip. he got bitten by the snakes among the bushes and collasped to the floor. then
they showed how the venom spreads.. haha. juz like wat i learnt in biology. can fully
relate to what they meant by blocking the receptors at the postsynaptic membranes
and disallowing synaptic transmission to pass through. hence causing paralysis.
that guy was really unlucky. he had to be carried by a boat to the shore opposite for
15 mins. then when a helicopter arrived, they realised that it was too small for the
2m tall man. so wasted another 20 mins to get another helicopter. then the helicopter
had no anti-venom medication. juz when i was thinking tt the guy may not have made it,
they flashed to another incident where this guy got bitten by the Black Mamba and
almost didnt survive. He got bitten in his lab and he was allergic to the anti-venom
medication but in the end he gad no choice but to inject tt into himself. then the
combination of the venom and the medication caused him to fall into coma. he remembered
he had enlargement of pupil but could not move his eyeballs. hence, the doctor thot he
was brain dead. he was dependent on the life support machines. however the doctor
decided to final the last check and decided to remove the life support. that guy couldnt
move but deep down he fought hard as he wanted to tell the doctor he was still alive.
then the day when the nurse had to remove the machines, he lifted his finger. heng.
that saved him.
Commercial break
Do you know that a single bee travels to 2 million flowers to make 500g of honey?
then they flashed back to the first incident and the guy survived! due to the
anti-venom medication in the hospital. then they flashed to the thrid guy who was
involved in the discovery of anti-venom drugs. The third guy got bitten by 22 poisonous
snakes in his pursuit of improving athe anti-venom drugs. He lost 3 fingers, had stiff
eyelids and a hard time to close his eyes, thick and enlarged tongue, difficulty in speaking and swallowing. He was bitten by the Black Mamba 4 times. wow and he lived to
tell the stories...
The show ended by dispelling that the snakes attack humans when they actually attack
under self defence. i loved the last sentence the narrator said, 'Black Mamba. Its
legend is truly larger than life' cool way to end the show. lol.
i truly enjoyed these 2 shows... better than watching some drama... ok enuff for
today. now 2am liao. die.
