06.07.04, Tuesday ~ Hyped factor: 4/10

hell at CMPB

ok. time to bitch. but guys dun normally dun bitch. but watever. here goes.

i am 'utterly' worried abt our country's military defence. see how they run medical
checkups in CMPB(central manpower base) can vomit blood. Kinda poor organisation.
ok, so they may be able to fight well, but just cant stand wat they put me and
some others thru. ARGHZ

I reached CMPB at 0915 when my checkup is scheduled at 1000. Took train to redhill
then TAXI to CMPB... so INACCESSIBLE... got bus but muz walk so far. i rather spend
tt 3.50 to get there. Then i kinda lost my orientation... dunno where to head. then
there are a few officers who juz stood there looking at me. er, hello, i looked lost
obviously... then i decided to go ask them but got a blunt reply 'hey boy where are u
going?' tt kind of tone like as if i carried a bomb. but told myself nvm, its juz part
of the firm 'military' style.

The first station i went was to take a photograph for the SAF identity card. damn. i
overlooked tt part. haiz. my frenz nvr tell me... i looked shagged and wif those messy
hair, gosh, another card for pple to laugh at after the ez link and IC.. haiz... but
putting on the biege/brown uniform kinda cool. [ok i forgot wat i'm going to say. so
many msn pop-ups. arghz!!!]

Then went to the main waiting area, wah so many AJCians... lol... was quite fast cos
i registered at 0925 and got to my first checkup routine at 0927. And tt was it for the
short waiting time... then dunno why after the hearing test, they send every1 for
blood test... i mean... there are 5 stations other than the 'dick' test. Shouldnt
they distribute? We already know have to go through 6 stations... making us follow the
mainstream really waste a lot of time. i can see the X-ray rooms and eye check room were
fairly vacant. but instead every1 had to go for the blood and urine test.

'Pee on all the colours' i almost laughed. tts the urine test strip if u noe wat it is.
Some were like quite stunned. And i find tt many got probs doing it in the urinals...
all fight to go cubicles -_- and jam the place up. so many urinals dun wan. see, thats
monkey see monkey do.

then for blood test, shoutings were going on asking pple to fill up the empty seats.
tt station went fairly well... spent abt 15 mins there. the 'doc' (i supposed) who
took my blood test asked have you done this b4? i was taken aback. erm, i told him
'ya, i did but by u its first time' lol. he thought for a while then laugh. erm ok.
shows that drawing my blood and registering wat i am saying is hard. and he asked the
next question which made me almost fall off my chair. 'So when did you do ya blood test'
but he was a really nice guy la. probably trying to make me feel more comfortable.
'when i went to make my IC and blood donation, ya' he was like 'orh. gd...' and its
not OVER! 'You know what i am testing your blood for?' laugh now. i answered
sheepishly, 'erm, it says here glucose and haemoglobin level. and G6PD deficiency' i
pointed to the small chart in front of US... Finally its done. pple behind me must be
wondering i muz haf lots of blood disorder. cos most pple is sit-poke-finish.

then went along with the mainstream to the dental. and the lady inside so rude. refuse
to take my file. kept saying 'pls put your bag outside'. i mean. i am in front of u,
cant u take the file first then i go put my bag? diao -_-" dental check was fast. doc
was as usual rough, digging into my teeth. ok came out saw the list PES A. erm. no
comments.

next every1 proceeded to the very empty X-ray rooms. Make us pose like a chicken then
next thing i knew. gamma rays have destroyed my cells. lol. looked at the clock it was 1015 :] cool. quite fast huh. bullshit

then the maddening thing. after waited for like 20 minutes, 'John Chen'... are u wearing
contacts? i nodded. doomed 'pls take out your contacts'. not too bad, they gave
me a temp casing. but what made me angry was: i juz sat outside, vision blurred.
wondering wat happened... i wasnt told anything... pple frm behind the queue were all in
front of me and into last station. then i overheard the lady say 'oh haf to wait another
30 mins'. damn. those who wore contacts have to wait for 30 mins before they take our
vision... haiz. i mean come'on, you could have asked us to take out at the start of the
medical checkup or at least when we put our files, tell us to remove. wait until our
turn then tell us. in the end wasted abt an hr in tt station. i was in the middle pack
and i became the last few. Then final 'dick test' wait was agonising... haf to do ECG,
then so long queue. i was the 95th person and the board flashed 30+. Juz a 30-min
wait escalated to more than an hour wait. if u were me, u also will fume. i was PES A
all the way, until i told the doc i experienced sudden chest pain due to contractions.
(and its true ok!) and in the end i was PES B!!! haha. actually same as PES A.

then measure uniform and boots and sport shoes! lol. after that horror befell.
VOCATIONAL ASSESSMENT. tt guy told me, pls go have your lunch and come back at 2pm.
it was 1pm then. wanted to haf lunch wif shannen, angeline they all. haiz. in the end,
waited wif an empty stomach cos i dun feel like eating. then i see pple who registered
later than me... going in to do the test... arghz... its a 2 hr test somemore. mental
torture. i did very fast.. rushed thru' dun think i did very well but who cares, give
me the job i juz do for 2 yrs the most.

then the most malu thing happen. it was raining heavily. i actually slip and fell and
'butt-hopped' the whole flight of stairs. OMG. hurts... i tried to stop by holding the
steps. but too slippery... now my wrist hurts.. arghz. wat a day! but lucky i was among
the last. so no1 to see how i fall. and my shorts was soaked... eww... taxi back to mrt
was so cold.. travelling by MRT was freezing...

Today sucked. To think i look forward to it cos no sch today and tt fat arse wan me to
produce letter. i am going to fight wif him tml... so many AJCians there nvr ask
for letter, why must i? always think i wanna pon. lucky today got 4 periods of GP i
werent there. if not it would sucked more than today. bleahz.

lessons learnt:
1. Prepare enough money to take taxi. Not worth walking.
2. Make sure you do up your hair.
3. Always hand in the file when u reach the station. Dun happy happy stand there and
wait. fight to give the file first.
4. Know whats 'pee on all colours' and practice using an urinal.
5. Put your bag before you enter the dental department. The AUNTIE dun like ur bag.
6. Place your two hands on your hip like a chicken for the X-ray test.
7. Dun wear contacts that day. but if nid to take out early!
8. Train your body up. u dun wan to look unfit among the 100+ half naked bodies
walking around.
9. Shoes get a bigger size. Dun forget you are wearing socks too.
10. Hand in your form early to get an early slot for the vocational assessment.
Your mind has to be super clear. And answer questions fast!!!

lol. this shld be the 10 guidelines for CMPB medical checkup to prevent hiccups.
:]
