Boss back in singapore so i had the luxury to write blog and do my report. having to do 2 chinese essays each 2500 words is kinda insane. supposed to call companies from chengdu but some companies have not started work.

was chatting with my frenz online and found that they have secured jobs in kpmg, deloitte... envy...

for my 2 reports, i am writing on 中国服饰通史 history of chinese costumes and 满城尽带黄金甲, drawing psychoanalysis theories to analyse the show, curse of the golden flower. My first time watching the show starring chow yun-fat, gong li and jay zhou. i find myself to like zhang yimou's works, though his movies are mostly adapted from novels. but like he said, he used his vision and direction to produce effects you cant get in a book.

the title of the movie comes from the last line of a poem written by huang zhao, who was a rebel leader. pretty much reflective of what the whole show is about.

不第后赋菊 黄巢

待到秋来九月八，我花开后百花杀。
冲天香阵透长安，满城尽带黄金甲。

When autumn comes on Double Ninth Festival, my flower [the chrysanthemum] will bloom and all others perish. When the sky-reaching fragrance [of the chrysanthemum] permeates Chang'an, the whole city will be clothed in golden armour.

during tang dynasty, people adored mudan flower (peonies), but huang went against the culture and chose chrysanthemum. so in the movie, this flower became the icon for rebellion.

throughout the show, the sons had no intention to kill the father to take over the throne which could be explained by the oedipus complex. whole load of concept so its better to just watch the show and read wiki. haha.

today i uploaded an album and got shot. didnt know they were private pix. feel so bad now.
