..:: 459. The One With Lectures ::..

it was the add-drop period for ntu students, meaning you can choose to opt for modules or drop those you dont like or even change classes.

i didnt think i want to take up an elective this sem. wanna relax. in the end, my friend told me there is this elective where they watch videos and is mcq for exams. i took a look:

BS803 SCIENCE OR FICTION? - BIOLOGY IN POPULAR MEDIA

In Jurassic Park, dinosaurs are cloned from fossils. In the Matrix, human brain powers are exploited to provide "electricity" for the machines. In Jewel in the Palace, a dark political plot was planned based on a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principle. In C.S.I., a scraping from the skin helped to solve the crime. Biology has found its way into popular media, but how much of these are based on real Science, and how much are purely Fiction? The scientific authenticity of such screen work will be the focus of this course. During each session, excerpts from movies/TV serials will be shown that (supposedly) are based on biological principles. The principles will then be explained and the "Science or Fiction?" aspect of the films discussed. Multiple-choice format will be adopted for the examination.

when i saw tv shows, i was excited but when i saw jewel in the palace, i didnt hesitate to 'bid' for the module. initially there was no vancanies, then i kept refreshing and clicking to 'add'... in the end some1 dropped and i got it! so happy...

anyway, this sem modules so dry.. sian.
