..:: 305. The One With 1st Week in SISPEC ::..

21 March, i reported to pasir ris interchange on a sunny monday morning, waiting for the similar SMRT bus that would bring me to the dreaded ferry terminal. The night before, i went to ask my senior to find out more about SISPEC to put my mind at ease.

In the fast craft, i was praying fervently that i wont get into Echo or Foxtrot, two of the most siong company in SISPEC. The more relax ones are bravo, delta (super welfare!) and golf (got female officer).

When we reached the stadium, we were told to search for our names on the list and our corresponding company... one of my unpopular platoon mates got into bravo and the moment i saw him clenching his fist and mouthing 'yes!', i knew he was not in E or F coy. i scanned my name... deep inside i thot, this yr has been quite screwed up for me, got into siong Mohawk coy, then horrible detail for sitest and now in SISPEC, what could be worse?

I saw 'E' beside my name, i almost fainted.

Before we left, we were reminded by the instructors,
'those who got E or F, you are ensured of really fresh air and you will be very fit after BSLC (basic section leader course)...'

No prize for guessing what is installed for us.

Echo has been renowned for their top discipline level and for the recent years, they have been producing the school best student. We got there within the first hour, we got screwed already, hearing more vulgarities than in BMT.

The first person that impressed me and got my attention was my platoon commander (PC) who is a 2WO. He didnt have his beret with him so i thought he maybe from infantry. Hell no, until i saw him with his maroon beret, i was pleasantly surprised. A commando. Before the training started, everyone has laid their expectations and rules. from section commanders to platoon sergeant to PC to CSM and even Officer Commanding (OC)who was another commando too...

talk about our CSM coy sergeant major, i think he can rap using vulgarities. one sentence, the vulgarities more than the noun, verb or even article.

make everyone cut the same hairstyle called 3 by 1 which is actually a patch of hair on top of the head, the rest shave. we look exactly like him, cock face.

One good thing was that we do not need to sing while we march. yes we still have to march just like recruits in BMTC, no difference.

Everything was such a rush. We learnt a new weapon (cannot be disclosed) in the morning and had a theory and practical test in the afternoon. The next day, another weapon. Today we just sat for an impromptu test, though open book, we had to search through 200+ pages to get answers.

My idiotic friend had to msg me at night that he was at home slacking, nothing to do. he got a 8-5 vocation. Now, he is teasing me about going SISPEC to suffer when he actually hope to be a commander but now a man.

we had peer appraisal by the 3rd day! how crazy is that? We havent got to know our section mates well enough...

Awaiting for 6th week...
